engine flush

so that engine flush stuff is called "Motor Flush" and its made by Gunk. got a can of it, filter and oil, and proceded to put the truck on ramps. and then i noticed the right rear drum is leaking brake fluid. so you know what? screw it, im gonna take it to the mechanic and have him do a once over and fix everything. im driving the truck on 20hr round trip after christmas, so it needs to be running well.

anyway, this here is a pain in the ass hobby... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

(good thing im thoroughly addicted /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif)

ATF fluid is not really a good engine flush, basically it's real light weight oil. It has no more detergents than regular old engine oil,,,,it actually has less detergents than most engine oil.

If you have to flush the motor for deposits, the best stuff I have used has been Berrymens's Chemtool. It's pretty harsh but it do work. If you have alot of build up, put half the recommended dose in the first few times you use it. Also, use diesel oil as it generally has alot of detergency.

I have not used it but have seen alot of good reports,,,,, AutoRx is supposed to work great.

If all you want to do is get water out of the engine, extra solvents ain't gonna help. Just change the oil with some cheap stuff, leave out a couple of qrts. just to save a couple of bucks. Let that run for a couple of minutes at low rpm and low load and let it get to temperature,,,, then change it again. A friend submerged his entire motor and it took three oil changes before he got all the water out.

so anyway, as i was driving the truck up to the shop, i thought, hey, gear lube is the same color as the fluid on the ground. and it smells more like gear lube than brake fluid. so if it smells like gear lube, looks like gear lube, (no i did not taste it) it probably is gear lube. im guessin i somehow blew a seal. anyway, the thing squeaked the whole way to the shop. which is on the highway. did i mention that its not a good idea to drive a busted ass truck with no tail/brake lights on the highway after dark at 35mph? /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif

it just gets better and better. i think i jinxed myself with this sig /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
