Engine grimmlins back! New Video inside.

Did you ever fatten up the mixture? Some of those plugs looked lean. Were you running the piss out of it on the maiden voyage?

Back track your work, and re-verify all that you have done. If all that is good, then move forward.

Pull the plugs and take a look at them....

I've gotten alot of PM's off this thread... Yeah, I know I should try to diagnose it, and I may try a few more things that are free, but as far as throwing another dime into this turd, its getting rediculous.. I'm easily half way to a crate motor in what I've put into it trying to replace random junk.. Life's too short for that. I can work the rest of the summer and drop a good motor in... I've gotten to the point of being so pissed off at it that I'm having second thoughts about the whole wheeling thing.. I would be better off just stepping back and saving up some money for it.

Do you have a GM Service manual for your truck. They have a good troubleshooting area in there.
Did you get to listen to the engine before buying?

There is no reason to take a step back from wheelin'! Just because you can't figure out the problem.

Don't let it get you down, you wouldn't know the fustration I went through trying to do my first gear swap. You just need to hang in there, you will get through it and once you have it fixed, it will make you apriechiate your tuck even more than you did before all this started happening.

I wish you the best of luck in diagnosing the problem, because my brain is racked.

With it idleing if it will idle start pulling plug wires and listen very carefully to see if the motor drops rpm if so that cylinder is firing good. Do this for all eight this will help you find the cylinders which are giving trouble. Check the studs in the heads they may be pulling out of the head if they are not staying tight or a bad nut ont the rocker arm. Pull the valve cover and watch the rocker arms to see if one or more are not opening near as much as the rest or look to see which ones are tighted down the most. If it is an early 80's motor it may have a plastic timing gear coming apart or it jumped a tooth. Hope this helps some.
