Engine Gurus: Need major help with TPI to Carb conversion

Yep, that block is not drilled for a fuel pump. Going to definately have to use an electric pump.

If both of those things are wired to electricity, I'd guess they are both fuel pumps (or one is one of those crazy magnetic gasoline molecule stabilizers for gas mileage.)

I'll check tomorrow but I think that both are wired up. Maybe that's why the fuel pump constantly makes noise even with the Blazer isn't cranked. My Camaro's fuel pump makes a noise when I first turn the key until it primes and then it cuts off. This thing runs forever. So there was an issue with the fuel pump from the get-go.

Another question: Will I need any additional wiring like a harness of some sort from the distributor? Also, will I need a coil and an ignition box? Sorry but I'm just not familiar with everything that a carb'ed car has.

If you get an in-cap HEI distributer (which is what I would do), you just need a hot wire from the ignition key to power it up when you turn the key on. You'll have to find a pigtail for that special connector in a parts store or wrecking yard. The same wire may be able to power the electric choke to if the carb choke is electric. I like electric chokes better than manual or the heat activated ones.

Not with an in-cap HEI dist. I also think those aftermarket ignition boxes are a waste of money unless you have a super hot motor. They don't seem to be as reliable as stock stuff.

Also if you can get rid of that fuel pump mess and use a single electric pump close to the tank, you'd probably be better off.
