Engine swap time! GM 6.0 or 8.1 that is the question.

1991 caprice police 350 (l05 block) hydro roller cam
1996 vortec heads
comp cams extreme 4x4 cam
holley truck avenger 670cfm
msd 6al and timing control


Now your truck is nice and clean so i can see why a perdy motor... but for me... get it all muddy and try and troubleshoot that!!!!!!

2.5yrs ago i got 11.5mpg in my beast..... i think that is acceptable since my dd (08 silverado 1500 z71 crew cab shortbed) gets 14-15mpg on a good day.....

but i too would have went 8.1.... i say always go bigger...

Yes, the 8.1 was destroyed during shipping back in October boy Central freight did a number on the motor EMC,Harness and the acc drive. I went with a 5.3 but looking to swap it out with a GMPP 6.0 in the next few months. I will have a 5.3 long block for sale with only 38K miles on it. I have had some set backs.... I am fighting cancer and chemo was kicking my butt butt. I dropped it off for exhaust work this morning sooo maybe I will have pictures in a hour or sooo.
