Entertain Us - 400 sbc question

That’s crazy, mine weighs in at 7400 loaded for a trip. You have a lot more room for sure. Great looking setup.
Yep. It's heavy. Empty with driver: Front 3100 Rear 2260 Total 5360 Ready for camping with driver: Front 3310 Rear 5490 Total 8800 Scary that it only put 210 lbs on the front axle. When I pull my atv/ sXs trailer I'm in the 12,500 lb range

Saw this walking the junkyard today, the engine looked big? Maybe I was ahead of myself and thought it was a 400 :haha:

Big block that has the A/C compressor brackets still on. But the truck doesn't have A/C. So the fat block was swapped in.
Chances are that this motor already has at least 400 cubic inches within it ; does that count ?
All the extra metal on the engine is just there for ballast to help keep some weight on the front end when heavily loaded…

I didn’t spent much time and only brought the tools needed to remove what I was after. This was one of two trucks in the yard.

I run headers on my 1978 small block 400 K5 Blazer, not because I am a big header fan or trying to make it a racing engine, but rather to help offset the poor cylinder head design. The last thing it needs with those poor cylinder heads is the stock log jammer exhaust manifolds. I am not really qualified to say if or by how much it helps, but it just seems like a good idea given those cylinder heads.

Just read this thread from start to here; whew, my brain hurts. I too have been "blessed" w/a sbc 400. It was not by choice, just came already installed in this "oxidation special" I bought....I have an average 350 (prolly 300hp) ready to go, but I'm just too lazy to transplant if the 400 is gonna be a runner... time will tell, and I've got a long way to go (new inner and lower inner cowls to install, plus re-wire before I try to fire it up..... it does turn over, so I've got THAT going for me! Guess I better get a heavy duty temp gauge installed first! Here's MY train wreck:
