How are the draws? I was looking at an entry level cab and double stack of boxes for $200. I know I gotta go check them out at sears first but was curious of experience on here.

I personally would not waste my money on an entry level box. You will out grow it quickly more then likely. Save up and buy something bigger if you can. Better to have more room then not enough.

Well this is going to be my personal box in my little rented work space. If I ever do take a job where I need a serious tool set on the job I wont be skimping at all. For now though I just need to get my tools organized.

Was lookin at this.

I wouldn't waste my time on that box. The thing only has 16 3/4" deep drawers. I have a much older roller bearing bottom box and while the drawers are only 18" deep they aren't nearly as deep as I would like them. One of these days i'll pick up the Snap-on triple bank classic 96 box.

fyi contact your local tool truck guys. thay have good used box's most of the time for sale.

i have seen 1000 - 1500 box's go for 300-500 before on the trucks.

also www.craigslook.com for local deals used.

i have that box in blue.. its cheap and i wouldnt waste my dollars on it... shop craigs list lots of great deals for quality boxes.. now the sears professional boxes arent bad but for the same money you can buy a big name box on craigs..imo

Don't waste your money on that like what was stated earlier you want some thing deeper and I would defenitly get something wider as well.

ive got the 90th i believe aniversery edition of that box and its just fine. ball bearing, does what i need to with my general tools before i started carrying them in the truck. I used mine in highschool autoshop and never had a problem, although the bottom half drawer lock is a little touchy at times, but barely noticeable.

nice box scott.

but i had one and upgraded 6 month later.

to shallow and to short.

good box tho.

I know that box isn't the deepest box that Snap-on makes but at 24" deep it is alot deeper than my current 18" Craftsman box. Also I think a 73" long box is plenty for a home garage unless you meant height.

Sure I could get a larger box but also at double the price of this one. You have to remember, this is only for my garage and I don't use it for work anywhere.

ya i meant hight.

if you look on there site from classic 96 to tripple bank krl its basicly 2 more drawers tall and from 24 deep to 29 deep.

but as you said big upgrade from the one you have now.

but i always say more room to grow in to.

whatever gets the job done for ya....

gotta love how we turn a low budget box thread into a Snappy fest! :haha:

I just bought one of the 6 drawer top boxes like you did. I gave 40 bucks for it and it was new.. I barely have in tools in it. The deal was to good to pass up. helps when my buddies dad owns a pawn shop.

Yeah but it is what it is. I got something decent that'll do the job. Plus its my first box to actually land my tools in so that brings a smile to my face.

The entry level craftsman boxes suck. I don't even have nice boxes, i inherited some of those craftsman boxes. For a budget, decent garage, watch craigslist like a hawk for some ball bearing craftsman boxes. That will be my next purchase once my checking accounts recover from summer

Thats exactly what I wound up buying.

Here is my current set up a 58" cornwell box and a giant tool cart both in blue. I started with a husky box with like 7 drawers and filled it in about 3 months once I got my tools in it. Im about to need a top box or bigger bottom box.

Hahaha :haha::haha::haha::haha: totally.

I'd buy the top chest to my bottom if it wasn't $4500 :doah:............

and if the powers that be at work didn't give me the keys to my very own 2008 F350 rolling toolbox I might go ahead and buy that top box
