The EST (Electronic Spark Timing) connector tab has broke off.

You know the piece? That brittle plastic tab you lift up on so you can pull it apart to set your timing?

It is now just a plug and play setup. Is there a replacement for this or can you make your own connection?

There's one on ebay but it says it's for a 85-92 TPI. Will that work?

Sometimes the auto parts store has these, or rock auto

I'd probably tape the :poo: out of it

OK....great. Just wanting to make sure it wasn't some specific type of connector that was only for this type of use.

Thanks you very much. :waytogo:

I bought a weather pack kit a while back, it's nice to be able to replace the connectors when I break one. I'd hate for the next owner to cuss me the way I've cussed the hack POs of so many vehicles I've owned.

That's exactly what I am doing. Looking for the kit for future repairs.

No kit. Well, at least not for what you need to do or will likely need to do. IMO.

The de-pinning tool is pretty darn cheap. It's just a hollow tube with a handle on it. I'd heard in the past you could use the innards of a pen to de-pin them, but I didn't find that to be true. They also make de-pinning tools that will do other terminals on other vehicles, that one is handier IMO, if you are buying a tool. Some of the newer/smaller stuff is a real pain to deal with.

If the only thing broken is the tab, you can depin the terminal and put it in a new shell. If it's just the tab that's broken, you only need that piece.

Mouser.com has cheap shipping and all the weatherpack (delphi is what they are under now IIRC) connectors, terminals, and seals you might ever need. Far, far cheaper than what the kits run.

Only problem I have with the "kits" is that each vehicle seems to only use one or two of each connector, and they cost more than the individual components. Four terminal for the tail lights, two terminal for fuel pump, single terminal for the EST bypass. There are probably more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head for EFI trucks.

I've got a spare used one you can have, locking tab is intact and it's not brittle.
