Euzoa's (re)build and rant

I’m a diesel tech at a CAT dealer, it’s a good profession and you’ll always be kept busy!

Edit- I do have to say that back when I first started wrenching for my day job I stopped working on my own stuff for about 6 months. Just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Now all I do is wrench on stuff

parts are on the way! payday i ordered my heater and duct kits (SUM-991102-1HEATER 2-3" OUT,SUM-991103-DUCT KIT and SUM-991104DEFROSTER KIT 3) from amazon I ordered abs plastic and some assorted led rocker levers, a usb charge port , a cheap radio and (supposedly) the correct harness adapter. tomorrow I'm ordering my bulkhead connectors and barbs from fastenall (5/8" Hose x 1/2" Male NPT Brass Hose Barb Fastenal Part No. (SKU)
69936, 3/4" Hose x 1/2" Male NPT Brass Hose Barb Fastenal Part No. (SKU) 69938, 1/2"FPT x 1/2"FPT 1.5"L Brass DOT Bulkhead Coupling Fastenal Part No. (SKU) 0443550) I plan on using sheet metal in place of the ac condenser, running the bulkhead connectors through that. just gathering my thoughts and parts

Are you on the ag side or the dirt moving stuff?

Used to work in the AG department but my boss was a dick that ran almost everyone off. I transferred to Industrial/power systems December 2015 and absolutely love it. I work on power generation and industrial engines now. I stick toward the engine side of things and let others deal with the electrical voodoo that is AC power

Sorry for the sidetrack @euzoa

Eh no worries, how big do you guys get out there? 60 liters are about as big as we get here.

We’ve got a ton of 3516’s around that are 69 L, I couldn’t even begin to count how many. 45 (for now) C175-16’s that are around 84 L. And half dozen or so 3612’s that are 221 L.

Oh and this guy, which is fun to work on due to it saying GM on it.

Cool! I just transferred to being an Equipment Mechanic Foreman at one of our local coal powered power plants here so I am learning the CAT equipment stuff. We have an 844, two 834s, three D10Rs and a 966K and some smaller stuff.
All that big engine shit is cool but I've never messed with it.

Ok, so I don't know why i thought I had so much room behind the dash on the hump, by i didn't have nearly what I wanted. so after I ripped out all the old heater stuff I found the issue, one of the vacuum actuators had broken where is connected to a door. Now I decided to mount the heater over where the evaporator hole was (I'm a little worried about it bleeding properly with the way its mounted, so when I get my bulkheads I will dismount it, pull a vacuum on it and then run it up to temp before I put it back together), I used the power supply wire from the oem heater harness as power to the switch, the rest of the harness was supplied by summit, real easy install. And as for the radio, I'm an idiot. I just need to buy the correct adapter and a single din will fit my year. the abs plastic to replace the heater control went easily, I decided that I like the switch they sent and ended up using it, rather than the rocker switch (I also dont have my die grinder here to cut out the holes for the rockers). I will use those later when I install my light bar. fastenall dropped the ball ordering my bulk heads, so i temporarily have just run the hoses through the firewall. I just got it all hooked up when I lost light, so I will have to put it back together in the morning, but so far it works. My solution the the defroster adapter issue is the kit from summit (3") on of the connectors for the tubing is just right to fit in the defrost port. so I will cut some abs plastic, mount the adapter in it, the mount that to the defroster. lastly, I started moving into my new home box, with help from the cat, and Schultz is very upset that we were in the truck all day, and didn't go for a ride.
