Ever wish you'd built a street/trail/show rig?

Chrome don't get you home..... I'd rather have a more capable 4by and a separate show/cruising rig.

Here's my weekend cruiser- T-topped 99 Z28 6 Spd.

I don't have to worry about scratching it up on the trail and I don't have to skimp on the wheelability of my 4x4 to keep it looking in car-show condition

things like that would A) get me in a lot of trouble, or 2) I'd wind up dead. I took my sister's 92 mustang out the other night. I was doing 120mph before I was a mile from home. A crawler or big slow truck is a good thing for me ;)

When I get around(money mostly and time) to working on my 72, it will be a nice looking(slick paint) trail rig. I am planning on a late model mpfi 6.0 or 8.1 possably. I have a BBC for it now, but we'll see what happens. I would like to run 1 tons, locked front and rear, th400 or 4le80, doubler, and 39.5 boggers on some nice wheels, maybe some welds.

eventually I want to swap out the 5.7 vortec in my 97 for a 6.0. Think that would be a sweet little upgrade. So much more potential in those Gen III motors. I want to do that whether I sas it or keep it a 2wd tow rig.

This is what I do.

I have my summer driver/nice truck and my DD/weekend warrior which is soon to get 3/4 tons, lift and some tires. Its still fun on 31's though.

I know they are crappy pictures but its all I got here at work.

Please post more of the truck. Mt father is restoring a 1948 5 window

as do I, we'll have to hook up out there.

Buy yourself somthing like this, and you will be forced into doing nothing but light trail wheeling and Mall Crawling.

I did, the K5 has served as a daily driver, has seen trails, and has been in the Carlisle truck show. You probably just wish you would build something and actually drive it.;) I'm just messing with ya but damn you need to finish something and get out and wheel.

Except for the show part that is pretty much what I built. The current plan is to make it a little more street friendly and take better advantage of the diesel's fuel efficiency. I am adding an NV4500 among other things...

I have no trouble driving my truck daily, plus it's pretty much wheelable all the time. I don't get much time to go wheeling though.

I'm completely uninterested in the show scene...

If I was walking through the parking lot into JC Penny and I saw a lifted "Z-71" with blinging "shoes" on it parked right next to a 4" lifted k5 with a d60, 14bt, some rock rash and lot of custom fab'ed sh*t, you better bet that I would be looking at the k5.

I know, I most certainly do.

ha, as the weather starts to get nicer I keep drooling at the idea of a rig I can drive on the street, cruise around town on a saturday night and hit the trails hard on sunday morning... Eh just a thought, I have the S10 to finish this is just a little pipe dream thing I have cooking in my head for now. Something that sits a good bit up, not fender hacked and 2" of lift.

Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and about 60* here...... you want to talk about "jonesing".....????

My K5 has sat in the same spot since last year's "Mud Bog Boogie" event (about October 2005)....I still haven't even bolted the exhaust back on. If the weather is nice tomorrow, all I'm going to want to do is slap that exhaust on....swap in a freshly charged battery, pull the top off it and cruise around town.

There is nothing like driving a 1st Gen topless on a sunny day. :usaflag:

you did have the word SHOW in your title  :D

You can show a truck like that it's just that only people like us will apreciate it. I'd rather see a beat rig with a big block and mogs than a clean 1/2 ton on 44's any day of the week.
