So it is an 85 suburban and every time I start the engine the windshield wipers turn on for a few wipes then stop. So what exactly needs to be replaced to fix this one. Has anyone else had this problem

I havent heard of that one. Does it have intermittent wipers? Check to see if there is a black plastic box with an aluminium heatsink slung underneath the steering column. Its electronic, so it can do wacky things when it feels like it.

Yeah this would be my suggestion. Also make sure the wiper motor casing is grounded. Your motor has a huge part in intermittent wipers and things get funky if the case isnt grounded.

I have the same problem with my truck. The thing is, it won't just do it when I start it up, it will randomly turn on if I am driving a good distance (over 30min or so). I can time it perfectly when they will come on so I just hit the switch once and they turn off. I changed the motor for them and everything, except I havent jumped on that firewall yet.

I will look at the ground in the morning. then the box under the box under the dash. thanks fellas

Mine used to do that. I replace the intermittent box and the motor and it stopped.

If your truck has the intermittent wipers, you can troubleshoot the module by unplugging it and connecting the harness together. Your wipers will just have MIST LOW HIGH. IMO this will tell you if your box is to blame. My gut says its electronics related since it happens every time and then stops.

Jeeze wish I knew this before I took the $70 stab at that stupid little box.
