Everyone who\'s running CROSSOVER, what did you do with your X-MEBER

For everyone who's changed over to crossover steering, what method did you use to avoid contacting the factory engine crossmember?

Trim it?
Replace it with aftermarket (MOO?) ?
Bent Draglink?

Thanks!

Re: Everyone who\'s running CROSSOVER, what did you do with your X-MEBER

I have ORD's highsteer with a bent draglink and have had no problems yet, although I do not have a whole bunch of travel in my 10+ year old Trailmaster springs.

Sky crossover, stock crossmember, bent drag link.

Bent draglink with Ford #1104 pitman arm. It barely touches the crossmember. A little grinding will take care of it for me. I also run a steering arm spacer.

For those running a big drop pitman arm, make sure the spring does not hit the DLE before the bump-stop can stop the axle's up travel.

On the truggy, I built a cross member and ran a stock Ford Van pitman arm ($6 at PnP plus resize to GM DLE) with straight drag link to Avalanche arm (I do NOT recommend the AV arm!).

On my 1 ton K5, it appears to be an after market drop pitman arm (installed by PO) but it is too low and will be hit by the spring before the bumps can stop the axle. I need to redo the cross-over with less drop in the pitman and bent link or new/modified cross member.

I run a straight Draglink and I made a new crossmember.

Same, I prolly have more lift then you though.

Re: Everyone who\'s running CROSSOVER, what did you do with your X-MEBER

2 1/2" lift, ORD draglink, barely hits the x member when flexed hard. It might need a little grinding after this last wheelin trips findings. I've had peeps tell me I couldn't do it w/ a 2 1/2" lift but it works /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif You might have tie rod to spring issues with the new knuckles. ORD sells 1/2" add a leafs as a special order for such problems. Of course I just let mine rub on the springs
