I ordered some you new mufflers, I’m just not into the black widow venom250 on my blazer. Presently it dumps under the truck just in front of the rear axle with the tips pointed down. No H pipe just duel exhaust/headers. I’m not changing that.
In hindsight this wasn’t one of my better ideas having it dump under the truck.

Anyway, I ordered some thrush weld mufflers and getting the exhaust re-routed. After talking to a few members here, they recommend out each side behind the rear tires.

some Pics from browsing the web. The posted picture sure has that exhaust awfully close to gas tank. Is there a way around that?

Another pic of it going before the rear tires. Probably the cheaper route. But I want it quieter and the fumes away from the cab as much as possible.

I like this. Hard to see how it’s tucked under the truck though
Depending on cost will determine front or behind the rear wheel. We’ll see

I wouldn't worry about the exhaust being close to the tank. as long as you have some air gap there it wont be a problem. I'm a big fan of getting the exhaust out from under the body as far back as you can on vehicles you intend to drive and live with. I like the second pic you posted because it is pretty high and tight to the body. You could even go higher and come out through the body and look like a race car. exhaust.jpg

Ive got it straight out the back and want to switch to out the sides behind the tire, like the orange/red one you posted. Since ive already got the pipe there, hoping its a relatively inexpensive switch. Never been a fan of out straight out the back, and rear window down is no good.

I like the look of the exhaust in my first post, goes out the side past rear tires but the tips stay under the cab slightly

Do you have a shackle flip? That will impact what you can do as well. Shackles end up being right where factory exit is, and may impact the routing of your pic in post #1

Yeah I do have a shackle flip .. when I drop it off, we’ll get a game plan. Just posting for ideas and input.

Go past the shackle flip brackets and 90° out to the side. Still a lot of room back there to clear.

I haven't had any issue with how tight the pipes are to the tank either. By the time the exhaust gets back there it's not hot enough to do anything to the fuel.

The GM routing is pretty close near the front corner(s) of the tank where it goes over the axle, but IIRC, they come out at an angle, not straight back along the tank like shown in the pic above.

Clearing that corner is the only tight spot. Exhaust has to be mounted solid, a small amount of movement there will have a metal on metal rattle.

Didn’t think of that. I’ve got the side windows cut out of my hard top and always have the back window down.
When I have the softopper side windows rolled up safari top style like yours its fine.

If you had a rear deflector on the back of the hard top, the downward force of air would keep the fumes out of the back wouldnt it? Rarely k5’s with them
