exhaust gasses coming with back window open

I don't know how well the spoiler works; but I have one on my Suburban. The back window still gets dirty, and when it's open, I still get fumes from my single exhaust. I don't usually drive with the window partially down, as I recall on my Wagoneer that was a no-no. The window could come off track! So I pretty much use the same thought on the Suburban; open fully or closed fully while driving.

I don't think that deflector is angled correctly, I believe they are almost vertical to be effective. Not quite, but pretty close.

I think I had less gases coming in when I had my roof spoiler installed. I have one laying around if anyone needs one. PM me.

I am not surprised (that the spoiler is incorrectly mounted). The Previous Owner had done a lot of questionable work to this truck...

I'm still finding wire nuts! :eek1:

I've driven several times with the window partway down, with no problems. It obviously puts more stress on the regulator, but who knows how much is too much. I would not do it while wheeling for fear something would bend in there. There just isn't much reason to have it partway, so :dunno:

You don't want the back window open on dusty roads, though, unless you're just crawling along.

What I find works really well is windows up and A/C on :waytogo: MPG is probably just as good or better.

Spoiler doesn't solve the problem, at least in my case. I have the factory one, which makes a big difference on how wet/dirty the rear window gets, does not solve the exhaust fume issue completely, windows down or up. No sliders.

Catalytic converters make a world of difference if they are working correctly. Only reason I will be putting one back on my truck.

Wouldn't the cats just get rid of the smell? The fumes you can't smell would still get inside.

Working properly the byproducts won't be toxic (Carbon dioxide, water, nitrogen, right?), so I suppose whatever remains wouldn't really matter.

Can't smell carbon monoxide either, which is a byproduct of combustion without a converter. Every once in awhile if not moving at decent speeds, I'll get a slight headache, pretty certain that's carbon monoxide.

I have a cat on mine and I still get some exhaust smell it is different but still stinks.. I like that idea of the exit fore of the front tires.
