Exhaust

What about an H pipe , rather than changing too much first?
I know that may not be the sure fire cure, but maybe??
An H pipe on my 72 helped tone it down, less drone on the highway.. that had dual 2.5 inch with 40 series’s flomasters and out before the back tires.. put my wife to sleep on long drives.. but it was 450hp either..

I have a single Flowmaster 50 series big block muffler, supposed to be the quietest they make. It is nice and quiet but the muffler is huge.

Says the guy that managed to find the only mufflers on the planet louder than open headers. :haha:

Are you uploading it as an attachment to the post or to the media gallery? The gallery might be more size forgiving, then you can link it in your post.

As for sound levels, does the quieter side have noticeably more or elaborate bends?

Sound difference could be heat riser valve if it is still installed. Passenger side right after manifold IIRC.
Got long headers and 3 inch pipe all the way back, only difference is on passenger side is the bung for Fitech 02 sensor and that’s the quiet side.
I was able to post a video in the media gallery

That is a little louder that I would have thought, it almost has a Flowmaster type sound.

Since you want it quieter, here's my single exhaust clip for a back to back comparison.

Mine are magnaflow 11249- I thought they would be quieter also at 24 inches. I need to go check everything as the sound difference on each side is dramatic. I'll be on the crawler tomorrow. Still trying to get FiTech just right also. Thanks for the help! I'm sure I'll have more questions tomorrow :)

I like the flowmaster 50's. That's what I put on my new square. I have a bore'd 454, long tube headers, 3" into an X pipe, FM 50's, and turndowns right by the center of the back bumper.

Only loud when I'm on it, and no droning at 45mph (no OD). Haven't taken it out of town since the exhaust to say what it's like at 60 though.

I'd switch to a flowmaster 50 series, retains the tone without the drone and isn't all that loud.

On Monday I'm dropping my 75 off for exhaust. It's got stainless long tubes, and some sort of huge mufflers and 2.25 duals. Going with 2.25 again with flowmaster 3 chambers.

Right now it sounds like my grabdads c60 only quieter. I want a good tone without the volume. Just a vortech headed sbc.
