Hey guys, I'm gonna be buying a set of tires right away and I found the best prices at www.4wheelparts.com I found other good prices at different sites but not anyone that would ship to Canada. So I was doing a little reading online and have found a whole bunch of negative feedback about people dealing with 4wp. EVerything from them sending the wrong stuff and charging the customer to ship the correct stuff to badly defective tires that they won't replace and everything in between. Have any of you guys dealt with them and have positive or negative advice for me? I don't want to order 4 tires and have a huge headache for the next 3 months. Thanks alot

I've never bought tires or wheels from them but I have gotten gears and lockers with no hassles.

I've heard, read and seen all the same negative stories about the tires, wheels, etc. These were enough for me to form my own opinion that I will never buy from them.

Check out National Tire instead. Or even Tyres International. Both are competitive and reasonable with better dealings and warrantees, too.

I've generally found 4WP to be pretty reliable. But, I've never ordered online from them. I've bought stuff from them for years and most of the counter guys know who I am (especially with the '72 now). But even with that, I still have to shop around be prepared to haggle with the counter guy to get the best price.

Four Wheel Parts aka Transamerica Auto Parts ... oy. Do a Google search. They're worst on installing stuff and doing the work to your truck (they mostly work on your wallet.)

I've bought stuff from them. It's invariably been a hassle, and I'm local to them (but I've mail-ordered stuff too.) The prices they give you are never actually the price you get charged; even the web page can "be wrong" and you have to bitch and moan and whine to get the price they promise4d you to begin with. They are the *ultimate* in wheelers-n-dealers. (They should sell Buicks!)

I would say that you can get just as good a deal from soneone in Canada and not have to pay customs. At the very least you'll get better service from dang near anybody else, even if you do have to go 'Stateside.

Seriously, see if you can find a *local* tire shop or four-wheeling place... walk in with a print out of 4WPW, and see if they'll get even close. If it's within 10-15%, take it, just for the hassle you WON'T have if you deal local. And if you deal with 4WPW I *guarantee* you you'll have hassle. Yes, you might end up with the right stuff eventually. You might not -- and you WILL be pissed off :deal:

I've bought all my tires for my rig from them. I've never had any troubles with them. I've never had to order them though as i live about 10 miles from their warehouse and i just drive over and pick them up. You can get good deals at www.tirerack.com also but not sure about shipping to Canada.

Bought 2 sets of tires and wheels , suspention lift, locking hubs, and many other parts and have had nothing but good to report, both buying over the phone and direct from their orlando fla store. Service, price and quality were all great.

I bought a 12 bolt detroit from 4WP ~5 years ago and when I broke it (4 months out of warranty) they fully refunded my money.

They are good with warranty stuff IME but are terrible with installations and terrible at convincing people to buy Genuine gears (the worst gears you could possibly buy). 4WP is notorious for charging big $$ for shady work, plus their parts are way overpriced.

I ordered a set of 42" TSLs for 16" wheels from them while they were at the Indy jamboree. Guy was a complete moron and didnt know what he was doing. They had just recently offered that size for 16" and 17" wheels, he couldnt find the part number cause the catalog he had was too old! He searched it on the computer and it pulled up, 42" SX , I said if you can get me a 42" SX i will buy 100 right now (they don't offer that size and there are tons of people that would buy it)

I walked in to 4WP one time, and never again. I was going to buy some parts and was standing at the counter then some kid with a mall crawler came in ready to dump some cash on his useless POS and I got pushed out of the way. I stood there for about 20 min and never got helpled but was asked to move out of the way. Need I say more!
Store location-FM 1960, Houston, Tx

Interco just announced that 42" SX's are available right now.
This was last september, but yea i saw that thread on pirate. I thought they said it was still going to be like 5 or 6 months till they will be for sale

I have bought tons of stuff from 4Wheel Parts and never had an issue. Maybe $ 3,500 worth. I think they are the biggest so of course you're going to have some unhappy customers when things just happen in your control and out of control.

I called to order a set of wheels. I don't order unless I catch the free shipping deals. I ordered the rims & the guy gives me a total w/ tax. I told him to cancel, I would order from another web site that was out of state to avoid the tax. They ate the tax & still shipped for free. I got them when they said I would

i ordered 2 things from them at different times.

set of pro comp 7' slim profile lights = nice

MM winch = the box was falling apart, the solenoid cover had a hole punched in it. tried to contact them about another cover and never got a response.

I've bought stuff a few times from them but always with some hesitation, typically I use them just because they have a significantly better price on something.

Good experiences: bought my last set of wheels there (catalog item), and bought a couple of tow straps when they had 30' 30k straps for cheap.

The Bad:

They opened up a branch here in Columbus, OH several years ago and invited our club to have meetings there. The place only lasted maybe a year before it closed, no surprise to anybody in our club. We had previously had our meetings at a pizza place that had a nice seperate meeting room....and the 4WP place made us sit in the non-AC 100 degree garage with the air compressor running in the background. I tried ordering parts from them a few times, including a Lock-right which the sales guy tried selling me a Traclock because "it's the same thing" even after I took in the catalog page from the Lock-right webpage. Also ordered an extended brake line, got me the wrong part and then tried to charge me shipping even though I went to pick it up at the store. I looked at some "custom" work they were doing and it was hillbilly deluxe scary! Their lead mechanic built a CJ-7 that looked pretty impressive from the street (it was always parked out front) with lime green paint, full-widths, and 42's. After looking at it closely it was pretty shoddy. Rusted out frame, hacked off factory spring and shock mounts (I swear he used an axe)...didn't even try to clean it up, just spray painted over it. Front axle was a D44, with stock gearing, stock 258, etc, etc.. He sold it to some poor fool and that guy brought it to one our club's open rides...that POS puked all over itself 100 yards into the trail on a hill that Jeeps on 33's could make with no problems. Took us an hour to fix it good enough to get it back to pavement.

I bought a set of Pro Comps with no problems at all. Ordered a MM winch, came in and cracked on top, I called them up and they had another on my door step next morning no hassels. I then bought Procomp shocks, no prob.

Maybe its a Regional thing. I know the store in Dallas has apretty good rep as far as I know.
