Experience with Jasper?

Maybe blueprint but i would need to be desperate for an engine
Have you heard anything bad about Blueprint? They build new from their own castings, so I always considered them much better than the remanufacturers out there.

what I know about Blueprint is 30 years old....... I think they were a new builder on the market and had a few issues. They weren't making their own block at that time.

Wow you guys…super appreciate the feedback. I remember this being so much simpler when I was younger. Probably b/c there was no option for these high priced options. Kind of like Chickntrk said, we just used damn near any 350 available and it never failed.

Unfortunately smog prevents me from using the Vortec heads (L31) b/c my 82 intake won’t fit. Fingers crossed for Leno’s Law. Otherwise that’s a fantastic idea. So many of those motors around From wrecked vehicles.

But I think I’m convinced to buy a Goodwrench crate motor. This has been eye opening.

Looking at Jaspers propaganda and how the supposedly run all these motors, record specs, etc… well, it’s disappointing to have so many people with such bad experiences.
By the way, in CA you can put a newer engine not older, you can upgrade as long as the parts have a CA approved tag.
If I had seen this earlier I would have offered my low miles L31 complete with harness and offered to install for you.
All you would have needed was a modified ecm and a visit to the BAR for a new tag

I was thinking you could use an L31 because you could use a vortec carb intake and use your carb and emissions devices? But I admit I’m not familiar with California’s BS laws

Aren’t all the GM crates basically L31 castings with vortec heads?

yeah seem your right I vaguely remember a Jasper rep coming to inspect a bad authorized Ford rebuilt, @ 15 years ago. We were swapping v10 Triton, @ 1 or 2 a month. All those were 200k plus mile engines. The Jasper's idk how long they survived. They did warranty that engine and Ford did the swap, couldn't afford to pay us to do it lol

No problems with my Jasper engine after 22 years and ~90k miles. Very happy with its performance.

I haven’t thought about Jasper in a long time until this thread came along. I don’t remember the years and I didn’t search to find out. But, it seems they were a good source of engines back when they were a primary sponsor for a NASCAR team. Did they start doing crap rebuilds because they spending all their money on the sponsorship or stop sponsoring because they weren’t making any money due to quality going down? Who knows.

I record the Stacey David Gears tv show and actual watch an episode every so often. He is using a Blueprint brand crate engine in a few of his projects. The bit about the company stated they make their own castings for block and heads. The prices seem high to me, but anything more than $300 for a running 350 seems high to me since that is what they used to go for. Here is a link, not an endorsement :

Avoid Jasper at all costs, when I bought my K5 it had a new Jasper 350, within a 1000 miles it wasn’t running right, long story short, cracked head. Upon further inspection it appeared in its previous form a connecting rod went through the side of the block and they welded the block back together.. Found a low mile Jegs 300hp 350 with world products Torquer heads on it, $1200, a buddy, and a six pack is all it cost me to put it in..
Sold the Jasper 350 before I pulled it so buyer could see it run, gave full disclose of all known issues, $750. Overall cost me about $500 plus a flywheel and some tuneup stuff..
There are lots of good engines out there on stands and in garages for projects that never came together. There are also lots of duds, so do you due diligence..
