Experimenting w/56" rears & wheelbase-52" fronts; finally some flex testing

It is an unclamped pac that was taken down to 5 leaves. I know have unclamped packs that are 6 with an overload and it still drops out like crazy. I too am limited by my shocks in that photo.

Any difference in the ride with 6 vs 5? I'm thinking about going to 6 leaves. I think we need to in B_to_C's truck.

His and my 5th leaves are the ones that have the clamps on them. I'm wondering if that leaf even does much.

Can you run the 2.5" shakle flip and use the 56's for a softer ride and minimum lift?
I don't see why not, but I like I said I think you'd still need to use 6" shackles at a minimum.

In the last 3months I've had 3 different tires on my truck:

37" mtrs

Then 40" mtrs (actually belong to B_to_C)

And now 31" crappy old bias plys

Soon to be 38" Michelin XLs.

im tryin to get my stuff together to throw on the 37x12.5 SSRs ive got settin at my mamas house after i get my axle situation done w/ i gotta throw a 4 inch lift on it or maybe some zero rates and shackles i dunno yet(big time budget)

I have been thinking long and hard about running 56's on my truck but I am having troubles deciding. Should I get them from the junk yard from a stock truck or try to find some with a lift? My truck currently has 6 inches of rough country lift and I have the DIY shackle flip with a 6 inch shackle. Anyhelp as to which direction I should go would be great. Thanks!

2" lifted spring if they even make them, thats what im hoping to run up front. i dont remember if they make them or not

For me 4" lift would have been plenty. I was running 2.5" lift with the 37s, and those 40s for that matter. But the 40s would have required more body mods.

38377k5 is running 37s and 4" lift.

I assume the RC is the front springs only. I would agree with muddy that you're going to need 2" springs to equal out the front. I'm a little worried if my height will be okay with 6" shackles and a zero-rate in the rear matching 4" in the front from 52s.

ur 52s up front might be a little saggy so u might only end up with 3" or so. your going to run a overload right?

The 6th leaf did not really do anything appreciable for ride quality but I feel the extra leaf with the overload will help keep me from killing the springs. The first set I had looked like this \/\/ with the weight on them and there were gaps between each leaf in between the ends and the center pin:o .

Oh I also run 37 MTRs on 4" of lift I will relocate axles and run 42s with prolly only 1" more maybe no more lift:D

Yeah I will run an overload in the front w/52s.

I think I will definitely add the 6th leaf on the 56s. I'd rather not trash springs if I can help it.

I like this shackle angle much better. I ended up making them 6.5" just because of the material I had left. I think I'm going to order some 6" cross-tied shackles from DIY4x, because I want the added strength and the rounded ends.

Took a better picture showing how the rear axle location looks

I don't know what looks funnier the axle location or the tires. I like how the departure angle is looking; I just need to figure out a creative way to do the fenders.

You don't need to order a set of shackles to get them stronger. Add in 2 pieces of 1x1 angle Iron in between the bolts & weld them in. Poof stronger shackles. Then Take the sharp edges off with a bench grinder & poof no sharp edges. Paint them & you have some more cool homebrew that only cost you time not $$$.

I measured my 11.00R16 Michelin XL's; They're a genuine 39" tall, 9.5" wide tread!
