Expert advice/opinion on possible trade for a 87' K5

Yeah but you've had a LOT of trouble and work if I remember correctly. That truck in NO WAY says $14k to me, even $8k. Even in the rust belt he'd be hard pressed to get $8k for it any more.

Well I knew what I was getting into LOL

yah I agree though no way that truck is a straight trade for his car.

To the OP take some of the guys up on going to look at it. Lots of knowledge on this board and like I said if he hasn't strengthened up the rocker area that will be need to done right away, and it typically requires welding something in so thats going to be hell on the nice paint

I've got a guy coming to by a drum set tomorrow for $2500. I think I'll just look to buy project K5.
Everyone has been Great, thank you all so much!!

I think you're making the right choice. Looking at both vehicles, the brotherhood is right, no trade. That K5 looks decent enough, but not straight-trade-worthy.

I have a 94' GMC K2500 4x4. I had to put a new transmission in 6 months ago. Its got a Rancho lift, no idea how high. I guess I could fix that up. I bought it to carry my band equipment but I could fix it up for off road & survival needs.

I have no idea what your car is worth so would have to take your word on it being $14k. With that being the case that Blazer in the ad wouldn't be worth that much even if it had some serious hardware under the body. Even looking past the terrible writing skills in the ad, the complete lack of any technical specifications tells me the guy doesn't know anything about the modifications.

The full convertible conversion is cool, but would also worry me as to whether it was done correctly or not. I have also seen people claim new or rebuilt engines and trans that were actually junkyard swaps.

No Way! That's right where I live! If you make it up here, we can do some trail runs if you have time.

Wow! I came to the right place... The guy is in Goleta, basically by UC Santa Barbara. Thats to far after reading AJMBLAZER's insights. I'm truly blown away by the assistance!!

I actually found another K5 closer... and the guy wants to trade for my 94' GMC K2500. If I do the deal I'll hit you up. I'd love to drive up there and hit some trails!

Nice work finding a K5 that someone was willing to trade the K2500 for... I thought your Z was more valuable than what the guy up here had.

You should definitely hit me up if you want to do some trails here in Santa Barbara. It's basically baby 4x4ing, but the views are great and you won't break anything.
