I recently found a '87 or so Crew cab Chevy that has an extended cab added to it. It is a 2wd & has a short steel western hauler style bed on it. I will get pics this week.

Similar to this:

It does not appear to run & I know it has been sitting there for at least a year. I am going over there to inquire about it this week.

I know it has been asked before, but does anyone know who built these things? What do you think it would be worth?

Only worth what someone will pay for it ... the owner may think it's worth more though =))

With gas costs these days, trucks just ain't worth what they were ... and not running?

Cool though it is, I'd not be inclined to spend more than a grand if all the pieces are there and in decent condition. (And I've actually considered cutting up my sixpack to make the cab bigger, so getting one pre-done would be a bonus for me =))

I was thinking $1000 too. I only want it to build a family vacation tow rig, so it will not get a lot of street time, or attention for a while. I really want to add it to my collection though.

After some heavy all afternoon searching I think the truck I found may have a fiberglass extra cab on it. I found these two pics. The extended cab part of the truck I am interested in looks likes these.

Edit: added some more pics.

I think Choo Choo Customs was the popular conversion company in the 80's. That'd be a sweet truck, same idea as a Dodge MegaCab. It would really be neat (and more comfortable) if the rear seat was moved back into the extra area some.

My girls are little now, so leg room isn't an issue yet. I believe this truck has 4 buckets in it.

local horse show at fair all the time. past few years 1 shows up all the time crew cab extra cab white also. never have asked for pics or look at it.

I have thought many times about mixing and matching one of my burbs and my crewcab to make a 6 door with mega cab part. Thinking of cutting the rear of the cab off the sixpack and grafting on the second row seat section onto the back of the cab and putting the back of the pickup cab back on. It would give three rows of seating with the rear being able to fold flat like in the burb, but still have room behind the seat when the seat is up for suitcases. With the seats folded flat there would be enough room for a queen sized air mattress. Another option would be to use an electric folding bench seat from a conversion van.

You are putting evil thoughts in my head again. Especially since I am about to cut up 3 burbs.

Starting to sound like this one... :haha:

Seriously, actually, if I had time and space ... and a spare Burb :D ... I'd do it. Actually, I kind like the idea of a six door Burb *without* the pickup bed. Oh, it's been done...

Pretty sure they did six door versions as well as eight :D

I am telling you, I got it bad for this truck I found. I am picturing a diesel swap, 4wd conversion, & some 19.5's. I think it is a crew cab long bed frame, because the flat bed looks really short.

Yah, I have this picture on my hard drive. Gotta love all those doors.

If I could afford it, I'd like to take a CC dually and make the bed into a Burb-style setup. Replace the bed with an enclosed area with two more rows of removable seats. Seating for 11 and still have room for cargo. The ultimate family vacation hauler.:D

I'll see your measly four pairs of doors, and raise you another!

Do you fold? :D

Here is a stageway 6-door you speak of:

Still have not had a chance to get over there & snap a pic of my new dream truck.

I don't know I give power to the factory limo over the redneck one.

Well, it may not be an original Stageway, but I don't think someone just fabbed it up with a sawzall and a case of beer either. Either way, novelty value is about all it has.

I must indeed agree that this is one clean specimen; I wouldn't mind owning that at all.

As promised here are some pics, not much to look at right now, but I can see the potential. The extended cab part is steel. I had read some were it said they were fiberglass.
