Ok so this has been out a while and I've known about it but I wanted to wait to see if it has created any buzz... It hasn't seemed to so I'm suspicious whether it even works. Is it too good to be true? Is this trick photography? Have you tried it? I'd love to redo my front bumper and dually wheels.

So it's essentially mirrored paint so it will scratch and nick like paint would right? I would be concerned with long term adhesion to a chrome bumper or wheels.

They have had fake chrome out for years,
This looks like it's a little better stuff.
Is it real? or ever going to be real?...no... But is it close.. yeah.... Could get you by...
I really like it the idea of the look of chrome where you can't get it otherwise.

I probably wouldn't use it as a complete replacement for bumper chrome. But that's just me.

Buy some and let us know....

From the video yes it works like paint so it can scratch off. Beags I don't think this is anything like the "chrome" spray paint that we know of in the past from the auto parts store. That stuff was super dull n terrible lol.

Yes I don't think it's ever going to replace chrome but if it's easy to touch up and apply in stead of finding a chrome shop to redo a bumper or worse yet if there's pitting that has to be filled this doesn't seem to have to be directly on metal like electroplating. So body fill could be used to smooth things out after patching.
I'm in no way implying that this can work on higher end show vehicles but what about nice trail rigs or even dd's?
Plus if I build rock sliders and a rear tube bumper I can chrome them in stead of the old "black rattle can" and have them match the stock front bumper or do the cage in my k5 with it to look much better than powder coating etc.
Just seems there's a few ways ait could be applied to step up the home builders finished product if it works and is cost effective.

Lol, I wasn't talking about this.

I was talking about this.

Which after looking it up to show you, I see it's probably pretty close to the same stuff.....

didn't read the replies... rattlecan, semi-crappy stuff has been out forever.. but i did see that clip that was going around last yr, where they slather this stuff on a test piece with a brush to the point it's just running off... and it all just flows out and looks real good after a minute or so.. i'm assuming they've come out with a better product than what's been in the crappy rattlecans for yrs...

It's still got me intrigued. I'm hoping someone has first hand experience with it

Most chrome shops/platers have long narrow tanks. (Think bumpers)

Sliders wouldn't be a problem at all. But cage. Forget about it.

For the cage you may want to talk with your local powder coater for some other options.

"chrome zone" looks good at first but has to be cleared or it will dull out. Have it on my k5 Trac bar. It looks OK but just more like silver paint

"Counting Cars" had some of that chrome stuff on one episode, they liked it a lot,but they said nothing about its durability..they did say it was much cheaper than having things re-plated..

There was a spray on chrome called "Closest To Chrome" made by Majic brand paints a local store used to sell--it did look very close to it ,as close as a spray can could get,but I haven't seen any around in the past 5 years, the store that sold that brand went belly up last year and had started carrying other brands of spray paint..
