EZ wiring kit. My electrical thread. Got it

Have you thought about relocating the fuse block to some where it's easier to get to? I hate cramming my fat ass in the driver's side floor every time I need to check something on it.

I can relate:doah:
not to mention the back loves the contortionist moves too.
I have a regular tune up from the Chiropractor each month,to help with such things.

to anybody wanting to tackle this kind of project, I was told there are people on ebay that sell the ezwire harnesses for around $135 plus shipping. Sounds like a good price to me.

I looked on fleabay before I bought it but the ones listed when I bought mine didnt have a buy it now option that always makes me nervious and also didnt want to keep bidding. I also looked at several web sites that retail it and the price was pretty much the same as EZ's web site.

total to my door was $202 I might have found a better price and free shipping but i get impatient when I want to buy something. besides that its still at least half the price of other brands. Im happy with the price and the product.

The other stuff I ordered was $168 but that isnt stuff you need as much as just what I wanted.

the tractor flood lights are about $13 each at napa.

there will be more spent as I still want a water proof box and a second batt and a 140A alt ect ect ect ect.

If you don't mind, could you post up some pictures of the back of the block? I am curious how this box mounts. Does it mount through the stock bulkhead hole? Does it seal up the old hole? Do you have to come up with your own way to mount it and plug the old bulkhead hole?

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Rufus

Mine (same brand) has 4 posts that hold the fuse block about 1.5" off the firewall, two of those posts are hollow and tapped for screws to come through the firewall. the wires simply come out of the back of the fuseblock, there is no bulkhead like an OEM fuseblock. I drilled a hole (7/8 or 1"), put a grommet in, and started feeding wires through. Ended up fitting tight enough thats its as waterproof as any other part of the truck =). I patched the bulkhead hole with a small piece of sheet steel riveted in.

The spade connectors that are used in the bulkhead on the firewall are called packard 56 connectors. Just get some male and female connectors with the appropriate crimper, and you can rewire your factory bulkhead connector to whatever configuration you want. Thats what I did when I installed my ezwire harness. But you will have to find a wiring supplier that sells the terminals as well as the crimper, there not sold at very many places.

A friend of mine is helping me with this, we are taking it slow. We sorted wires and rearanged and scratched our heads for about 5 hours the other day. I debated back and forth up and down on how to mount it. what I settled on was using the inside half of the factory bulk head I pushed all the wires out of it and cut out a section to run the wires through. The fuse block will snap into that and the 2 factory bolts will secure it though both and into the firewall. I will use black silacone around the wires and in the remaining holes to make it water tight and hep avoid abraision on the wires. It shouldnt be an issue I may run wire loom through it as well.

I thought I had more pics but maybe I didnt save them as I was taking them but I do have this one.
