F350 el Rojo Bandito

1999 Ford F350, expedition and tow rig.
I'm interested in the manual
My mistake, I thought it was redEOD asking to get rid of it.

Hmm cage fight ?

Is idi, 1987. This part of training info I got when LAFD got their 1st diesel ambulances

I drove one at the shop I used to work at that had the full T4 flange conversion done with a big ass single turbo. Not sure what size. Smoked like a freight train but hauled ass.

Should put a bigger turbo in while you're that far... lol

One of the turbos I'm considering for an eventual upgrade, but finances are the limit right now. Hell hadn't even been planning to buy a new truck for a few years haha.

The EBPV, exhaust flap appears to be seized in the mostly closed position which would explain why the exhaust housing cracked. Going to disable that and force it open until I can afford a new turbo.

The gauge and sensors arrived today. Edge CTS3 monitor with fuel pressure and EGT sensors.

This is the stuff I tried out on my service truck at work and so far seems decent quality. I haven't done my personal one yet other than unplugging the EBPV to disable it. I have also heard of guys just cutting out the valve and welding the holes up for the shaft.

Also if your intake plenums are bent from the clamps like mine were I did these plenum inserts to fix them.

I need to tear into mine again some day and do the up-pipes. They leak when it's cold and I already have a kit I got in trade from my old boss.

It will need injectors, has a noticeable injector knock when it first starts but smooths out after awhile so not critical yet. Gonna run a few tanks with heavily dosed cleaners to hopefully limp it along till spring, do turbo and injectors then.

Cut the bigger hole for the hitch today, test fitting the headache rack, tank, winch, and other stuff tomorrow. Debating turning the bed winch around backwards so the cable spools over the top. That way the cable can go over the lower section of the 5th wheel hitch, heavy bastard to try and lift on the regular.

Switch to Rotella 10W30 diesel oil and add a bottle of Archoil AR9100 to the crankcase. It will definitely help your injectors. You can run 16 oz of Power Service Diesel and 8 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil in your fuel also and it will help the fuel side.

It's running some other additives right now in the fuel which have helped for the short term. If I can hold off injectors until the spring it will be best because then the turbo can be replaced at the same time so it's easier to go with upgraded injectors. Won't be the guy rollin coal if those parts get upgraded together. Stock injectors on this engine are 130cc, debating between going with either 160cc or 180cc and a KC turbo. Along with new up pipes and a tune.

Focus right now is the bed and winter prep. Have a battery powered mig welder ordered so I can weld up the bed mounts, hitch, and headache rack next week. Also have 2 underside boxes on the way, 36x18x17 inch aluminum. Fuel filters/pump will go inside the box on the drivers side since the new water separator (davco 382) is larger and the headache rack is too close to the cab for the filter to fit where it was on the 3500HD. For winter prep have replaced the glow plugs, batteries, which has helped but it's struggling to start even in 50-60F weather (cranking too slow). Measured the voltage drop across the starter cable and it's minimal, but the starter is the original style which is known for slow cranking. Replacing it with a higher end gear reduction starter when it arrives. Also replacing the alternator since this one is struggling to crank out 14.1 volts now and occasionally makes a burning smell. Likely the old batteries worked it to death.

Also got the rear window replaced. It's a solid window so no more slider but with the headache rack it's not a concern to me.

Pricetag so far hasn't been cheap since I got up to Utah in late August haha. New truck, few grand in repairs right away, at least the repairs list has vastly shrunk and there's light at the end of the tunnel for the wallet to recover.

Test fitting of the underside boxes. Driver side box will have roughly half of it occupied by the fuel system. The larger water separator davco 382 will be first after the tank. Then the Raptor 150 lift pump, and a final filter. Thinking of using the smaller water separator with the bed tank and the stock lift pump, move the fuel from the bed down to the stock tank. Fuel filler for the stock tank will be mounted towards the top inside of the box.

Box has 4in of clearance to the 265/75r16 tires. Eyeballing potentially going to 35in later so there is enough clearance to run even a 37in.
