It's running some other additives right now in the fuel which have helped for the short term. If I can hold off injectors until the spring it will be best because then the turbo can be replaced at the same time so it's easier to go with upgraded injectors. Won't be the guy rollin coal if those parts get upgraded together. Stock injectors on this engine are 130cc, debating between going with either 160cc or 180cc and a KC turbo. Along with new up pipes and a tune.
Focus right now is the bed and winter prep. Have a battery powered mig welder ordered so I can weld up the bed mounts, hitch, and headache rack next week. Also have 2 underside boxes on the way, 36x18x17 inch aluminum. Fuel filters/pump will go inside the box on the drivers side since the new water separator (davco 382) is larger and the headache rack is too close to the cab for the filter to fit where it was on the 3500HD. For winter prep have replaced the glow plugs, batteries, which has helped but it's struggling to start even in 50-60F weather (cranking too slow). Measured the voltage drop across the starter cable and it's minimal, but the starter is the original style which is known for slow cranking. Replacing it with a higher end gear reduction starter when it arrives. Also replacing the alternator since this one is struggling to crank out 14.1 volts now and occasionally makes a burning smell. Likely the old batteries worked it to death.
Also got the rear window replaced. It's a solid window so no more slider but with the headache rack it's not a concern to me.
Pricetag so far hasn't been cheap since I got up to Utah in late August haha. New truck, few grand in repairs right away, at least the repairs list has vastly shrunk and there's light at the end of the tunnel for the wallet to recover.
