Well the HD lasted about average for me, roughly 2 years. Hopefully this new rig will last longer.
Gaining a back seat and 4x4 are 2 big improvements for me. First thing the truck did after an oil change was to recover the HD from where it died in Monticello Utah and drag it up to my friends place near Lehi Utah.

One of the rear tires started coming apart on the way back with the trailer, caught it before it popped.
Had no dents or major scratches on the body besides the bed and front bumper, both of which are getting replaced later anyways. Nicer than pretty much every previous vehicle I've owned besides a few motorcycles.
That changed on the 3rd day of ownership. While changing lanes to get off the highway little hatchback Kia that had been behind me decided that he needed to get up alongside in a blindspot. So the front passenger door has a long scratch down low just under that rubber strip and a short scratch above. On the upside the little shit got himself a ticket for causing the accident despite his dramatic acting with highway patrol.
First project is the bed, swapping to the gin pole bed from the HD. Started by removing the 2 5ft long underside boxes. Next is to cut the headache rack off, slide it back 2ft, then chop the front 2ft off the bed so it will be 8ft long.

Converting to a dually rear or narrowing the bed? My '99 F350 is a dually. I like it, good trucks.

Going to narrow the bed about 3 1/2 inches per side. That puts the poles just outside the width of the cab, but close to matching a set of front fender flares and rock sliders. If I go narrower to have the poles the same width as the cab, the headache rack will require significantly more modification.
Snagged some better looking wheels for cheap as well.

Are they Super Duty wheels? Looks like newer Dodge ones.... if so they're the wrong bolt pattern (I'm sure you know that, just don't wanna see you get burned).
I've always liked these trucks. If they had a better gas engine in them than the 5.4 I would get one of these to replace my Dodge when I sell it. Don't want the diesel life any more though.

You might run into backspacing issues trying to run '05+ wheels on a '99-'04 truck and may need spacers.
I can't remember when they started using it but the 6.2L gasser is lots better than the 5.4L in my opinion. Now they even have the new Godzilla 7.3L big block gasser.

Ford wheels, from a slightly newer truck. If they have a backspace issue then I'll go to something else, not dealing with spacers.
Yep the old 7.3 powerstroke, stock form. Has a fuel leak issue around the filter housing so rather than fight it I'm upgrading the low pressure fuel system. Using the Raptor 150 and filtration setup that the old truck had. That's after the bed is swapped.

Riff Raff Diesel is one of the best for any oem or aftermarket stuff for the 7.3L

Removed the headache rack, then sliced the front 2ft off the bed. Not including the roller bed length is 8ft and 7ft 9in width currently. Friend of mine wants me to leave it full width, but the truck is only about 6ft 8in wide and I'm not converting to dually haha.

Likely the last time towing with the stock bed today. Want to have the other on by the end of the week.
New glow plugs and the upgraded fuel lines from CNC fab are on the way along with a different fuel pickup tube for the stock tank.
Would go to Blazer Bash this year but need to fix the fuel system before going on anymore trips. Pretty significant fuel leak in the engine valley from either the filter housing or the stock low pressure lines which the CNC upgrade replaces both of those. Bout a 50/50 chance it's due for injectors as well, bit of a miss that comes/goes below 1400rpm. Could just be caused by the fuel leak but injectors were suspected when I bought the truck. Makes me happy it's not a common rail, while about 2.5-3 times the cost of 6.5 injectors they are well below half the cost of common rail ones.

Woohoo old bed is off, now to get some fuel plumbing at the tank figured out while doing the new bed test fitting.

Small project, shouldn't take that long........ little shit took way longer than it should have. But the new 1/2in fuel pickup is installed. Hoping to test fit the bed tomorrow and figure out the mounts. New pickup can be rotated wherever, wanted it in so I don't accidentally squish it with the bed.
