I have the chance to buy for really cheap like $100 cheap a F550 diesel with a flat bed wheel base appears to be the same as my four door one ton, should I combine them?

My one ton is a 454 on propane the only thing I really like about it is that its a four door. The Ford accually runs good and is in ok condition, I just can't drive a Ford its like against every thing in me, and having Blazer for a last name doesn't help.

you do it and ofset the money spent by selling me the propane setup!!!!! but really even tho i am a die hard ford hater newer is sometimes nice

i think if you have to opportunity to buy any vehicle for 100 bucks you should probably go ahead and do it....but thats just me :wink1:

Prolly thats one of hte better ones, if not that then it's the 6.9 don't quote me on that though.

Well its mine sort of already the guy who owns it has $75 in to it he bought it for $50 and put a fuel filter on it.

Doo eeetttttt. But is the 550 a 2.5 ton truck. What axles are in that thing?

Farva says you should "DO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT!"

I say do it! There might be some nay sayers, but anything you can do to improve the performance/capabilities of a rig can't be bad.

Go for it

I too would rather eat a bug than drive a Ford, but if you hide it under a Chevy body that would be ok. The only Fords worth having have always been their trucks. Be sure you post pictures of the build if you do it.

'90 model will be a non turbo 7.3l IDI engine. I had a '90 7.3 F250 4X4, SHOULD'VE KEPT IT.

Had a 90 Super Duty 2WD with a 7.3. It had a Dana 70HD rear with 5.86 gears in it. Top speed of 60MPH. Had 8600lbs of re bar on the back of it one time. (Most of it was hanging five foot off the back) It acted like it was unloaded.

F550...wouldn't that have a CAT or Cummins in it?

I say do it. Deuce and a half size eh...Dana 135 or so. Dana 70 is good but not 2.5 ton size.

Its the same size as a pickup just has ten lugs so maybe its just a two ton, if a F350 is a one ton, a F450 would be a 1 1/2 ton, so a F550 would be a 2 ton ?

Not sure what Im doing its just a thought right now I could just sell it make a couple of hundred and find a cummins to put in my 81. Maybe just pull the motor and trans and put that in the one ton. That would be alot easier then a body swap. However the leafed straight front axle with ten lugs would be cool just to have under a truck.
