I think the K&N is causing problems with our mass air flow sensor. We really don't need this filter setup on here anyways.

I've started a search for a factory Avalanche air filter housing and hose assembly. I would guess one from a pick up of a similar year should work.

I haven't been to any junk yards yet, it is in the plans though.

Just putting this out there in the possibility that someone on here buying a newer truck changed their intake and would like to sell off the factory one for a decent reasonable price.

I have found gm maf sensors don't like the extra thick coat of oil on k&n filters . it comes off and gumbs up ( insulates the sensor ) and causes problems .

did you try cleaning it ?

and maybe just swap the filter to a newer dry version from other brand .

I have cleaned it a few times, also looked for a filter that would work on this setup. It uses a cone shaped filter, I haven't found one that fits the opening on this thing.

Problem we have is the engine spits, sputters, hesitates at times when things of power are being used. It's weird.

Under throttle, try rolling the windows up and it stutters, try running the ac, engine stutters. It has has a brand new alternator and battery as well.

There have been a few times it idles down and sounds like it has a big cam in it, a few times it'll actually stall out.

'05 should be electric fans right? I have one for a mechanical fan off a '00 Tahoe. I'm not sure if it could work or not
