Ok, this is something I have not seen before and I don't know if it was real or not. It is a 75 Chevy pick up with 1/2 ton badges on the fenders, 350, th350/203 combo. The trans pan has a drain plug in the front of the pan that looks factory installed and it is not a deep pan. It has an 8 lug D44 front and a 14ff rear with heavy duty leaf springs. Everything on the drivetrain looks factory. Is it possible that it could be factory? Is it what was considered a heavy half ton? The tag in the door jam rated it for 7800#.

Decode the VIN and see what rating comes up.

Yeah, post up a VIN. Fenders could have been swapped or something... but 8-lug and half tons would be new by me.

I can't, I don't have access to the truck. A friend had it and it was going to get loaded to go to the crusher tomorrow morning.:( I got the engine/trans/t case out of it. I wanted the axles but he needed them under it to move it and I didn't have anything to toss under it quick.

New to me too, but it had a th350/203 which I thought if it was a 3/4 ton it would have a 400/205 if it was auto.

my K20 has a factory 350/203, as does my uncle's 79 K20, and the 79 K20 i used to have.

What about the "Heavy Half" package. Even though I believe that was a 5 lug 14 bolt SF.
the only occurance of a 5 lug 14SF is the 90-93 454 SS trucks. the 14SF didnt come around until 82 or 83, then it was either 6 lug, or 8 lug.

the "Heavy Half" or "Big 10" trucks had 12 bolts in them, as they were pre-80, before the rear 10 bolt came out.

My guess is that someone down the line swapped axles. We CK5ers weren't the first ones to think of it. Maybe somebody had to make one good truck out of 2 or something.

I'm betting the fender emblems, or even the fenders themselves, were swapped. All depends on what the VIN says on the truck.

your gunna save it from the crusher right :D

It was repainted and the fenders were pretty clean rust wise considering it was a 75 and used to plow snow. I have to agree on the possible fender swap.
