Factory 4.10's came in what 1/2 tons? Maybe new direction.

Can't help with the front but have you thought about a semi floater 14bolt?

Little Better setup under your burb and they are 6 lug.

Might be easier finding a 4.10 setup for that than a 10 bolt

I have been looking into that for the rear:waytogo: Just gotta find a front. I was hoping to just get a pair and bolt them in. may not be easy to find though

my 85 k10 had factory 4.3/700r with 3.73s

know a guy that has a 74 k10 with factory 454 and 4.10s but he custom ordered that truck. Kind of a funny story to go along with it, he picked it up at the dealer and drove to the tire shop and requested a set of 35s. guys at the tire shop said that they wouldnt fit so he picked up one of their shop hammers and beat the bottom rear corners of the fenders in and said now they will. Still has the truck to this day, smashed in fenders and all.

I found 4:10's under a '75 Sub once with a positraction. And naturally since I'm so far away from you, I have a 12B that was built for a '79 that has 4:10's and a detroit in my yard... I don't need the 4:10's since I already have 4:56's but I wanted the locker. I'm just having a hard time pulling it apart for just the locker. It would probably be easier to find a 14b semi-floater in usable shape than a 12bolt?

Probably too far for you, and not quite exactly what you're looking for, but....

Not mine, by the way. Seems like a really good deal tho.

Man I wish I was closer. I'd have the money for them thursday:doah: 4.56's would be ok for what I'm doing too. specially since I may add zero rates and 34-35" tires later on. Oh well. I havent even looked around here yet. I'm pretty sure my CC has 4.56's though:thinking: Maybe a set of axles and wheels for it would be better. I'm liking that direction even more. It'll take me longer though:confused:

For the front, just pick up a 3/4 ton front 10-bolt that has 4.10's and swap in your current 6-lug components. These are very, very common. Swapping parts takes the same work as repacking the bearings, which would probably be a good excuse to do so.

Years ago when I still had 10-bolts in the K5 I researched on the net and search junkyards for awhile for 4.10 geared 1/2 ton stuff and never could find anything. As said above they are out there but I never could find any, and they are more prevalent in the older trucks. Every time I go to the junkyard I also take a look in the axle piles or the old Chevy trucks and there just aren't many 12-bolts still floating around after 30 years.

I may be changing my mind? I cant decide if I want to put a 5.3 in it and keep the 3.73's. Or spend the money since its a truck I intend on keeping and rebuild my current axles completely with new everything. 4.56's (wanna step up tire size later) and a truetrac rear/open front. possibly a locker of some sort in front:dunno: Both close to the same total price. but I dont know which is the better choice. Its a very Light wheeler/ DD.

ive seen mostly 3/4 and one tons having 4.10 and 4.56 gears.1/2 tons usually got 3.08-3.73 unless you ordered it with lower gears.

Yea... Finding a 1/2 ton 4.10 won't be the easiest thing you ever did.
But, finding a 3/4 ton w/ 4.10's, then swapping the hub's might be...
