So having heard tell of same, I went digging. Looks like The General has done it again, making fifty-seven kinds of trucks, and never the kind I want where I want it =))

Here's my CUCV ('85, diesel), which has the knockout still in place:

I've marked all the pix for direction and side, so you can tell what's what.

One of my spare clips has this plastic thing by the horn, which says to me that it was for an intake duct .. except it's on the driver's side? Both clips are from ~74ish trucks, one Burb, one Blazer, prolly.

And the other spare clip has the knockouts on both sides:

Or at least a hole on the passenger side.

Anyway, the truck I wanna do the cold air thing on is a '74, and has NO holes, and has these reinforcements in the way on the front:

Ignore the tranny cooler plumbing, of course.

So, what's the scoop? Is there some logic as to what trucks had the holes and what didn't? Working around those vertical members is a bear, I tell ya.

My '84 has the knockouts on both sides. That's about all I can add. :dunno: Sorry.

Ah, it's a start. I'm thinking I just gotta take the :hack: to the core on both side, like I did on the blue truck on one ... ::sigh::

My 87 has the one on the passenger side and will try to take a pic if you want in daytime. Just let me know.

Is it plumbed, or just a knockout?

It has the plastic part and the tube that goes to air cleaner. I will take pics in day light when I get up.

My 81 has one on each side too. The pass side still has the plate on it and the drivers side was open. I ended up putting my PS cooler behind the open one so it gets good air flow.

I popped the drivers side one out and now use both sides for some Aux 55watt lights. lol. If I ever dual the dual intake thingy, ill jus move/remove the lights.

Thanks ... I'm curious how it's *supposed* to be.

My '74 K5 now looks like this ...

But on the sixpack I wanna do the dual snorkel -- healthy bigblock -- so I'm still  on that one.

4" clothes dryer hose fits on that snorkel, squeezed.:D

Yeah, but it was a bit big, and the aluminum stuff I'm using crushed something fierce, so the coupla bucks for the rubber coupler is worth it to me to make it look nicer ;)

Sealed up the rubber coupler with some fireplace mortar, supposed to be good to 2000*, should be fine.

I'm talkin the light foil stuff with the single spiral wire.
Meh, I'll edit/post a pic.

Oh yeah, I know the stuff. I donno how well it would fare in the engine compartment though, so I tried this other stuff.

Yup, that's the stuff. The stiffer-walled stuff I used was maybe two bucks more ... but you think the flexier stuff is quieter? 'Cuz it's acoustically softer? I worry about it tearing ... though I s'pose anything is better than that paper crap that GM used for the stovepipe riser, etc.

You may be a natural Accoustics Engineer!:D My theory is its quieter because it flexes instead of echoes. I haven't had any problems with it being fragile, unless I mess with it to get to something else.:haha:
