Factory holes in core support for air cleaner ducts?

You may be a natural Accoustics Engineer!:D My theory is its quieter because it flexes instead of echoes. I haven't had any problems with it being fragile, unless I mess with it to get to something else.:haha:

And what of our trucks DOESN'T get messed with under the hood?

BTW, I was going to school for an EE minoring in acoustics ... ended up in the software world, go figure, but I still dream of that PE..

anyway, I've already had to undo my ducting once this morning, as apparently my valve cover gaskets are cracking ... grr...

Thanks Metrodps! Now I know why the batteries go sideways on them newfangled trucks... and why my CUCV doesn't have the vent, 'cuz its batteries are just wrong (both on the pass side, and the forward one is lateral, like the 73-80's.)

I do haev a plastic vent tube from an early 90's Dakota that might fit on the CUCV, with a little motivation, we'll see.

The  is still how to do this with dual inputs to the air cleaner on the bigblock, but I'm gonna wait until the motor is installed and possibly even running 'fore I mock up the second inlet, check for clearance against the brake unit, hoses, etc.

I just checked LMC but couldn't find it in newest catalog. I have seen it in one of my catalogs. You should be able to get one in a salvage yard for $5.00 but I will look better at my list and links Monday during the day.

I think one of the newer Vetts had dual intake for air cleaner. I will prowl eBay and see what I can in morning Have to be up in five and a half hours. :frown1:

LOL I posted almost same time and thing... GMTAL

Well, this means either we're both wrong or we're both clever. Let's hope it's the second one.

Somebody here -- HarryH3, I think -- posted up their dual-snorkel deal. I've got all the stuff to make mine (i.e. a tall cleaner and a second one which I'm cutting up for the snorkel, etc), just gotta figure out what angle to have #2 come out, and then how to plumb the bastiches.

Crap... I was just gonna post

LOL, as you say, great minds. Yes, get some sleep -- it's not so late here on the left side of the country :haha:

I'm thinking that 90* of separation of the ducts will be too much for me ... well, I say that, and I see HarryH3 did this...

http://www.angelfire.com/super/ThunderTruck/tech_articles/dual_air_intake.htm

The cleaner has 180* of separation, but since both hoses have the L on the end... hmm.

Anyway, I've got everything I need, but geez, for $20, I coulda gone that route.

Of interest to at least myself and Dorian, note that in the second Ebay item above, snork #2 has the thermac, but doesn't suck any hot air in, just closes off the snork. Hmm. I guess when cold the one snork is enough?
