Hey y'all I'm new to this forum. Just bought a full size 1990 Jimmy and it has the rear spare tire carrier on it, but doesn't have a tire on it yet. Truck is running 33x12.50 on factory 15x7 alloys. I'd like to buy a matching factory wheel and another 33x12.50 but I don't know if the carrier or rear quarter panel and tailgate mounts will support the weight of the bigger tire?

When I had one of those Years ago, I had a custom plate welded with 2 extended bolts onto it. They were longer than factory depth wheel/tire combo. And lined up with 2 lug holes instead of just center mount type. 1- better secured ,2- could use my locking lug nuts so it didn’t walk away by itself

I installed the same one years ago. 33 was no problem. I had to weld in a small support truss inside the angle bracket that the tire sits on when I went to 35" as it started to bend. I also addd a secondary safety strap so if the bracket brakes the tire is still strapped tight to the carrier and...never never ever let it swing open by itself. Should also mention the spare is on a stock steel wheel so the damn thing takes three people to install. Two to lift and hold it in place while I give directions and secure it in place :)
