Failure is seeing "Cancel Spring available" on the box for your new Cancel Cam after you've already replaced the whole turn signal switch because of a broken spring. 
And now for the questions:
After putting everything back together I'm noticing that I seem to have developed a 2 or 3 mm wobble in the steering wheel. It feels just like I need to tighten the tilt mechanism bolts, but it was all tight before I took it apart (not down to the bolts, just to replace the turn signal switch). Is there something else that I could have forgotten in there that would produce this effect? I did have the steering column mounting bracket off, does it need to be adjusted?
How the heck do I replace the cigarette lighter? It's blowing a fuse every time I plug something into it.
