Failed CA SMOG

Me too but Oregon has smog in some areas but I had a work around being a cucv and diesel and 6800 gvwr

I don't know about where you are in the bay but in Sacramento area, I don't want to leave.
I want to hopefully change things to the better.
If we leave things can only get worse.
As for your smog, I am pretty sure the new CAT should help.
My parents moved from San Jose to Chico, best move they ever did, they love it there.

Test only shops are not allowed to do repairs... you can find a shop willing to do the repair and the smog all at once but it wouldn't be test only. If you're sure it's a catalytic converter then you can get it done and go back to the test only
Im doing the most i can. So far new radiator, water pump, Hoses, tstat, EGR valve, Ignition Coil, spark plugs, cap and rotor, fuel filter. Timing was off and fixed that.
Next up is the exhaust. Catalytic Converter on back will be replaced.
Then back to the smog shop and see what happens.
Didn't see oil change,but timing egr and cat will adress the high nox onbuour 1st test.
Oil change was first. I have been driving it back and fourth. Local car parts store is close. I think I’ll do another oil change before I go to smog shop.

I passed smog. I left the muffler shop today. New CAT with muffler and went from dual tips to a single exit.
