Fake beadlocks

Ahh so i see now... its all or nothing. You either have to have true beadlocks or stock rims.. you cant have something in the middle, stronger than stock but not a true mans beadlock. So i guess we dont need a slightly modified engine either , it has to be either stock or a 1500 HP race set up?
You know there is a middle ground with parts and needs. As i said IF you are doing actual comp rock crawling you need true bead locks , they are awsome and do serve a need. If you have a DD that never sees off road you need stock rims only. If you so some trail hopping and stump jumping and need some thing stronger than stock but dont need to go the full bead route you are a wimp for getting some thing inbetween. Good just so that we are all clear on the issue.

As long as you get some fake mud and a rainbow sticker they are great....

Yup Gay. Funny thing is you have 39" TSL's on 1/2 ton's , "soon to be 3/4's" and you want these to make it look cooler. Do something full of purpose. Don't piss money down the toilet on these. I would shoot any friend of mine with 40's and "beadlock beaty rings"

No...it's just a waste of money! Sure for some people thats fine. People with enough money a that want "that look", go for it. For me, $100 could go towards something a lot more usefull and I'd hate to have something on my truck like that that I'd see and everytime I think of how I wasted money on bling. Just my $.02 :D

Hahahahahaha...............

20 bucks says they don't even snap down flat, look all wobbley going down the road.:eek1:

Few things -

1) The fact is that you may be the only person to actually believe that there is any advantage to snap on fake beadlocks besides looks. They are as likely to fall off or, god forbid fly off, as anything. I suppose, following your argument, that spinners would help deflect mud? So they actually would be a benefit, not just bling?

2) Owning a Corvette (and a nice looking one at that) does not mean that fake beadlocks magically become a valid upgrade or that you magically know anything more than anyone else about fake beadlocks.

3) There is a huge difference between a mild upgrade and something that is only for looks, but is being passed off as a mild upgrade.

4) Fake anything here is going to bring the type of reaction that you have seen. As will most bling. Get over it and have a sense of humor or just don't post it, but please don't try to defend it.

Well Stated Brother :waytogo:

Why don't you put them on the Vette too.:D They would serve the same purpose.
I would say most people on this site try to make their trucks functional first and if it looks good all the better.
I can remember the days of 20 shocks,50 lights, triple tube chrome roll bars. All of with served no purpose ether, so these bead locks would have fit right in back then too.
But hey what do I know.

Fake Bead Locks

Well i guess you didnt look at the link i posted with the rims called Street Locks... they are NOT snap on/bolt on/ etc.. they are a one piece rim that simply has a extra thick bead lip... i dont know where you got the snap idea from.. These are the ones i was just talking about
http://www.4wheelparts.com/PPT3361T100021.aspx

Pro Comp "Steel" Wheels, Available in sizes 15" to 16"
Series 152 - Black

Rock Crawler, Street Lock™ wheels are proven strong on MOABs hard-core Terrain. A smooth rolled heavy-duty outer ring is welded 360 degrees to its rim making the wheels outer lip super strong to withstand the most severe off-road punishment against rocks and rough terrain. The rolled outer edge helps prevent tire sidewall damage at lower air pressure. Styled to look like the real thing, but unlike its counterpart, the Street Lock™ is legal for street use. Made in the USA.

  • Legal For Street Use
  • Rolled Outer Edge Helps Prevent Tire Damage
  • Smooth Rolled Heavy-Duty Outer Ring
  • Great Alternative To A Real Bead Lock
  • Strong Outer Lip Will Withstand Severe Off-Road Us
  • Made In The USA

and yes at about $100 per rim ( full rim ) not a snap on thing... that is stronger than a stock rim , its not bad.

Excellent thread if I say so myself :haha:

We will have to wait and see when I get my new steel wheels if they have real beadlocks or fake. I will take pics and you will decide :D

My friend has these on his Wrangler. They are not made with a thick gauge or heavy duty ring. They are pretty flimsy. All those bolts just add additional weight and if one comes loose(yes, there are nuts behind each one) there goes your balance even worse than it already was. Just use plain old steel wheels with a weld on rock ring made out of thicker steel and be happy with a trully stronger rim with little/no adverse side effects on ride down the road.

see rim strengtheners half way down the page: http://www.diy4x.com/beadlocks.htm

I was driving down the freeway this afternoon and I saw a fag in a tahoe sportin 20" wheels with spinners, tinted windows and some really cheezy mialigned flat exhaust. GUESS WHAT?

I THOUGHT OF YOU CRUISIN WITH YO FAKE BEADLOCKS:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

My thoughts. I wouldnt waste the money, they look like they would fly off to easy. That being said its your truck and your money so ultimatly its up to you what to do.

Also...Ya I have a Mall Crawler To...
