FAT BASTARD 81 C30 Service Truck

So, I picked this truck up in a trade deal plans were to put the bed on Smokey and use the cab on my single cab K30 project.

But after doing some measuring of the bed , it won't work because this is a Cab Chassis truck so the cab to axle distance is not the same as a pickup.

So after going over the truck I decided it would be better to just swap in a set of CUCV axles in and convert it to single wheel.

I will run the Toyo MT 37-13.50 17 which is a E rated tire good for 4300 lbs per tire (about 700 more then the e-rated stock tires in dual configuration )

454 will just get a good tuneup and possibly a new intake and Valve Covers . And definitely an upgraded alternator.

Front will get an old warn winch bumper with 17k smittybilt .

Shoe String budget here, so everything has to come from my current parts pile or from trading/selling parts.

So the truck came fully tooled up , ready to work . I got the compressor running and working today after doing a tailgate rebuild of the starter and carb .

Then I started inventory of the boxes , it's a mix of Snap on, Proto ,OTC , craftsman mix. Wrenches up to 3" sockets to the same .

The torch hoses are garbage , sun rotten to a powder. The gauges are cloudy but a little wd40 has brought them back to usable . All 3 bottles are full , but the hydros are not current so I may not be able to get them refilled.

I have filled 4 big trashcans from the side boxes. Moldy rolls of gasket materials , grease tubes , random junk. Ect.

I also have filled two action packers full of cat and cummins parts that are brand new in the boxes (with probably another box worth still in the truck) .

Lots of chains , binders , shackles, straps , and other rigging as well as extension cords air hoses , fittings ect.

Throw an Air Products 300A welder in the back of that and you’d have my old mans first service truck.
It was a 73

So number 1 cylinder has 20 psi. the rest are all 150-155 psi . Putting oil in that cylinder has no effect , it's not backfiring through the carb so I think I may have a stuck/burnt exhaust valve.

So not much to update other then I swapped to a set of mildly ported 781 casting heads , a performer rpm intake and jet performance stage II q-jet.

I repaired the crane and it works good , welder is mounted. Really just need to rebuild the air compressors carb and it’s a fully functional service truck.

So not much to add, 4x4 swap is probably not going to happen . I have cleaned the truck up and got it running really good . It’s a gutless pig but it’s pretty damn heavy . Converted all the lights to LED and rewired the entire rear harness of the truck .

Compressor is rebuilt and working great!

I might swap in some 5.13’s and a Detroit into the rear and swap in a NV4500 I have . Other then that this thing is pretty much done.
