TuckerK5 submitted a new Build:

Fat Bottom Girl

This ‘58 Impala was bought and restored by a local couple around 1980.

It was partially selected for it being the husbands high school graduation year.
Since then they had spent time driving it to local cruise ins and just generally enjoying the car.

It had been really well taken care of since the restoration until the last year or so that he has been bedridden and under Hospice care.

They were ready to sell it but had not been actively trying to.
I know it was hard for them to let it go of but they also knew it was time.
It was important to them that someone have it that would take care of it and keep it local.
Fortunately for me we had a mutual friend who introduced us and vouched for me.

Dude, that thing is cool! I wasn’t expecting the wheels, I expected hub caps. I’m diggin the front wheels. I LOVE the interiors on older cars, their bigger than modern day campers. lol

You know what they say about big trunks

I loved my 59 t-bird that I drove in high school. Love those big cars. I had 8 girls in the trunk one night getting into the drive in.

So cool. Did you get the hubcaps?

First thing you need is a "unison" to balance those carburetors.
I have hubcaps. They are ugly. Something from that era. They are a solid aluminum disk.
Moonies?? Maybe?

I started it earlier today.
It hadn’t run in about a year.
I had an old drag racer over here when I started it to make sure I didn’t screw anything up.
It ran great. I may try some easy rides out on the road in front of the house.
There is little to no traffic on my road.

Yeah, a 348 through functioning lakes sounds pretty righteous

It sounds like a big block. I never heard that few cubic inches have that deep of a sound.
I know it probably weighs as much as a 454 but I just figured it would sound like a 350.

Certainly not complaining but why does it sound like that?

BECAUSE its a big block!

Yeah, those are the wheels I bought for my chevelle. US mag u111. They make a fully polished version as well. U110 I think.
I’m not much for authentic or even period correct.
I’m a resto-mod kind of guy.
The wheels do need to look right on the car though.

You put whatever wheels on you want!
I am also not much of a period correct or authentic/ original guy. But I just thought that car has a certain look to it with the side pipes and the Continental kit.
Those things make it seem the an older style like a kidney bean design or Five spoke would work well.
