Feeler: 1979 Cummins CTD Chevy in Texas.

Man, I don't look through the for sale forums for a while and look at what I miss out on. :doah: I still wish I could have gotten it back the first time. Sent you a pm.

in case anybody is interested, i'm going to texas in may, and could drive it back up this way

I currently have a deposit on the truck and delivery will happen on Sunday. I'll let you guys know if it falls through.

I think that they only use one battery in them. They are not like chevy and ford that need two.

I would think 2 batteries would be better as you have more jouice to draw from. :dunno: just my 2 cents worth for the day :D

You drop the $7500 on the table and I'll personally buy the second battery. Everyone happy now? :haha:

Lets get this thing sold boys!

Last I knew, Bryan still had it, but had some people interested. If I was smarter, I'd have bought it back. Instead I now have a payment. :doah:

come ON do my idea.

it is a garnted sell for the money you want!!!!!!!!

sell 140 raffel tickit at 50 bucks each, after all the tickits are bought you draw a name out of a tire or something and the winner gets the truck!

i'll be in for a few:D

Yes, its still up for sale. There are a couple interested parties, but Bryan's been a bit too busy to complete the sale just yet.

I bought it! My wife and I flew down to TX Saturday morning and drove it back to NC. Other than a lady having a heart attack on the plane so that we had to divert to a landing in Nashville (not major though - she walked off the plane), there were no big surprises. It was a LONG drive back.

The truck ran great on the trip home. LOTS of power - much different than my stock 1990 6.2 diesel Suburban with 3.42 gears. ;) Going through the mountains of TN into NC was really fun. It is nice to hear the turbo spool up.

I have a few things to do to get it to pass NC inspection (licence plate light, horn, and e-brake cables). Then I need to add a receiver hitch so I can tow my bumper pull trailer, and then I can start on the interior and weatherstipping as I get time. I guess I should start looking for a gooseneck to pull with it too.

Thanks again to Bryan for picking us up at the airport, some last-minute repairs on the truck, and serving us lunch. Thanks to Dan for helping put us in touch with Bryan. And also thanks to John (K30CJ - the previous owner) for being helpful and providing us with background info on the truck. I'm glad to finally have the Cummins I've always wanted! :D

Glad I could help. That truck definitely pulls hard. 13K lbs. behind it didn't phase it. The main thing to remember - I recommend you keep the trans overfilled with 5 qts. of 5W30 synthetic and not abuse it, and it should last a long time. Those Getrags will not survive for long on the factory fill level (3.5 qts.), or on gear oil. I used Mobil 1 in the trans. Some pics would be cool when you get the interior done. :D
