Browsing Craigslist tonight and found a 1980 k5 for parts. https://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/5168918794.html

Are 1980 front fenders the same as 79? I'm about to start the restoration on my 79 k5 and it needs new fenders, these look nice and for 400 bucks I could buy this whole truck... I would also be using the cab on my 76 that has a bondo filled b pillar. Bottom line, if the fenders are good and they are interchangeable with my 79 I think I would like to buy it, which brings me to my next question...

How would yall haul this?

PS: if you guys are viewing this thread on a mobile device I think you have to click "full site" and get off the mobile site in order to be able to click on the link.

Afaik, the only thing that'll be different us the core support - the square headlamp core support is different from round but they can be made to work.

Sweet. That thing has so many parts I need. It would save me lots of money if I bought that instead of buying a bunch of parts from lmc. So, how would you guys go about hauling this?

I'd probably rent a U-Haul car hauler, and drag it on with a come-a-long.

I'd probably be wrong too. lol.

I'd do a car trailer too. Bring four furniture dollies, and some cribbing material, and make it a 'roller'. Then drag it onto the trailer...

Everything is interchangeable. The core support didn't change until '81 AFAIK. The front valance was different because of the square lights, but everything else should work. I can't remember what year they gave the rear passengers some more leg room.

A log about 6" in diameter and as wide as the body is would make a good roller to drag it up onto a trailer--have someone stand on the tailgate to get the front up high enough to kick the log under it..

We used a hunk of 3" pipe often to drag vehicles onto our ramp truck at the junkyard when we'd pick up stripped cars and trucks that had no rims or the axles already removed...boss even made up a big pipe roller on the back of his trailer, that could swing down out of the way when not needed,so he could drag up "wheeless" vehicles...once he forgot to lower the roller, and when he drive his Lincoln up onto the trailer, when the rear tires hit the roller they just spun, then it slid backwards and mangled the driveshaft!..:doah:...we almost got fired because we couldn't help but laugh !..

Floors are same as a '79. The rear footwell was a '78 model change...

So the general consensus is pretty much rent a uhaul and somehow wheel it up onto it. Kinda what I was thinking.

Bring an engine host. Put the hoist on the trailer and pick the fire wall up. Back the trailer into it after lifting it up until you can go any further. Put the front on a good furniture dolly, then lift the back up from the ground with the hoist and back the rest of the way in.

I put an entire car with no front or rear axle/suspension on a car trailer like that.

Also you'll need cribbing for the back, then just strap it down real good.

Then I guess another question is what would be the best way to secure it onto a trailer without messing up the body or getting the body twisted up? Will I need to brace anything?

Where in NC are you I'm in concord I may be able to help you with the hauling for a couple of parts off of it rather than you renting a u haul it would have to be next week though

What's your email address? I'd be down for that for sure as long as the parts you need aren't the parts I need.

I have a set of 6 lug 33x12.5x15 on craigslist for sale that would help out not to mention 75-80 % tread on the BFG all terrain tires, in Durham,NC

Hmmm. I've been wanting 33s. How much you want for them. Or would you trade for any parts? PM me if you want.
