Looks good! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Have you thought about cutting the front strait across under the running light right below the inner fender?

Re: Fender Trimming Day 1 * tons of pics*

Looks good, but now your tires look too small. Need bigger tires. I got that same issue too.

Re: Fender Trimming Day 1 * tons of pics*

I think it looks really good! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Pic request : can you pull back a little and get a pic maybe with the door and fender together just for the "big picture" feel? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What did you have to tack weld? I'm close to doing a similar cut (using Yunit's pattern) on my K5 but I didn't realize this would need to be done.

Well since I can't tease you about your gloves because you already did, I'll have to ask you to slap Bob for his lack of eye protection... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

I'll definitly second the more pics request. The more the better. Yours have been some of the best I've seen yet.

Is the welding required?

Re: Fender Trimming Day 1 * tons of pics*

I know...I know.I grabbed the air saw and cut about 8"s just to see how it worked.Branndon was wearing the only goggles we had.
Today I wore a full face shield so NOW I am in compliance with OSHA /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Fender Trimming Day 1 * tons of pics*

I'm curious... is there any particular reason why people cut so much out behind the tire?

Re: Fender Trimming Day 1 * tons of pics*

A basic explanation would be that as your suspension compresses, the tire does not only travel up but also back towards the rear of the vehicle.

Additionally, if you were to have your steering wheel cut to the left or right, it allows further compression of the suspension as the tire now has some place to go.

BTW, Branndon the truck's looking good!!! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

The main reason I did, was because the axle moves back during it's path of travel. Gotta have a little more room, especially if the tire is turned.

Hope this answers the question as I read it.

OK, that's what I thought but I was just wondering.

It seems a bit excessive, especially when people cut the fender so much that the curvature of the wheelhouse doesn't match the wheel opening which doesn't match the tire. IE: they cut a shitload out at the bottom but it doesn't match if you run the tire up the wheelhouse. I know the cab is in the way of cutting the fender "square" like stock.

I don't know, my experience is with 33s on 15x10s with both no lift and 4".

Sadly, after a while you can't TRUELY keep the shap. It's just easier to straight cut it back. I'm hunting another set of fenders for mine to give it another go at keeping SOME of the shape, but I don't think I'll make it...

here's where mine is now. With the 8" rim, I clear it, but with a much bigger tire in my future, I will have to do some more drastic changes...
