FF14 Bolt budget Build...?

More info buddy?

Like tire size?
Gear ratio ? what u have. what u want?

I run 4.56s for gears and since my rig wont be daily driven its spooled. If its a daily driver id say detroit. I run 37's with stock t-case so id like 5.13s for gears you know how to find me lol.

I just did mine

Repack Bearing: Free
Overson Mini-Spool: $215
Solid Diff Cover: $65
Lube Locker Gasket: $20
New shoes in the drums: $ I don't remember...
Wire wheeled and cleaned up: $5 - Rattle can
Smoothed and shaved with the angle grinder: Free

It can be done cheap, you just need to decide what you consider cheap...

repack wheel bearings ? thay are oil bath from the diff. not ment for full grease pack like front stuff.

Bought a 14-bolt from the junkyard for $100.

- new fluid
- cut and welded scrap plate to stock diff cover for reinforcement
- welded spider gears
- shaved the lip
- disc brake brackets and used calipers and rotors off my old 10-bolt
- wire wheel and spray paint

I doubt I have more than $300 total in it. Been running it for probably 10 years now and the only thing I've done is replace the fluid a few times and a set of brake pads.

Oops, meant greased wheel bearings, I took it all apart to check everything and put a little white lithium grease on there to make sure everything was good and lubed :thumb: Thanks for the correction, I misspoke...

If you want to do it super cheap, weld the spiders, buy gears and min install kit (if needed), grind 1" off the lip, keep stock drums, keep stock yoke, weld a 1/4 plate mohawk over stock cover, add fresh gear oil, new ubolts, and weld axle tubes.

14b from a buddy... Free...

4:56s out of another truck... Free...

Orb of Traction... Free...

Shaved with homebrew dif cover guard... Free...

Disc conversion... Around $50 IIRC...

Beer... Who knows how much was spent on this upgrade...:D

Wow! Are you a profit?!

I've got alot of good ideas from this "blog" (is this a blog?) but Dirtygoat had some words of wisdom there... Don't you think?

Anything over 35 for tires. Clint said I could run 40s or 42s with his coil over. (That lift is why I'm trying to save $ where ever I can)

Thanks guys.:waytogo:

WTF do you mean "budget" ???? :dunno:

If you mean, "Minimum"....
You could just do the bearings and seals, if you find the correct gear ratio for you.
Then, you can weld the spiders, and you have a cheap a$$, lock'd 14 bolt.

Or,

You could be like the rest of us dummies, and get into it... :deal:

Since i started this build ive found that there really is only one way to build a rig, that's all out.

With that said; as soon as I pick one up it's getting 5.13s, shaved, spooled(the cheap way for now, ARB later), disc breaks, and trussed.

Go big or go home, right? :waytogo:

This funny, so the only way is to build it all out, then you say spool it for now then ARB later?

Later because I'm anxious to get the axles under it, and the 4-link and coil over done by BlazerBash. Already planned an ARB in the front, but am trying to cut cost where I can. Can always add the rear ARB later. Unless I win the lottery (that I don't play), it's gotta fit into the budget. Unless you've got a better idea? :sign22:

I was gonna do a budget 14 bolt, then it turned into an obsession with the funds never keeping up with the ideas, and long story short it all guesseted up and badass looking, but my 700r4 went out before it was done....i always get carried away with things and never enjoy them, hell my truck hasnt seen anything but asphault since christmas....im always in the "gas money to get to hollister can be used to buy this but then ill need this" mentality. Moral of the story, seals and bearings and have fun with it imo
