Fuel prices will likely skyrocket in the next week, starting tomorrow morning. New Orleans is going to be destroyed. All the oil and gas production in the Gulf has been shut down and will be for weeks. The oil companies are going to make us pay! I filled up everything I have today and spent almost $400, I think it will pay off as prices rise. I know it won’t be getting any cheaper anytime soon.

I think you are probably right although mabey Bush will step in on this one to keep them from going up too much.

Just filled up tonight $2.49 for regular and diesel was the same price. It has been higher than regular for some time. Prices have actually dropped about 3cents here.

U.S. oil prices surged to a record above $70 a barrel on August 29, 2005 as one of the country's biggest storms tore through the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, forcing oil producers and refiners to shut down operations.

This came out of an AP article on yahoo.......... :eek1:

I think I will do the same. I filled my car this morning, and will fill the wife's van tonight. I might as well fill the Burb, but that is goint to hurt. With a 45 gallon gas tank and $2.69 per gallon.......$121!! :eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :doah: :doah:

It looks like New Orleans may have dodged the biggest bullets as Katrina has mellowed to a Category 4 and then 3 hurricane. There is still going to be lots of damage and a slow down of oil production and delivery for weeks to come. A significant percentage of imported oil is delivered to terminals in Louisiana which are also shutdown. Oil prices topped $70 a barrel for the first time and some analysts are warning of $80. One thing for sure is that the Oil Companies, wanting to maintain their record profits, are going to pass their losses on to us.

Just did it this morning on the way to work. 25.408 gallons @ $2.52 = $64.00 to you and me.

I remember paying 59¢ a gallon sometime around 1984 in W. Texas.
