Finally bought a K5

Yea they clear, it's pretty tight when I turn the wheels tho. It's mainly a mall crawler right now so I don't have a lot of suspension movement.

Any way here is my soft top on the table

Lay that thing out in the sun if it's warm where you are today ... and get to work. Get those washers from Home Depot first, save yourself a trip in the middle of the job! :D

Yea I need to, but that's gotta wait till tomorrow. Work has to run me into the ground one more time this week then I can play with my new toys lol. Defiantly tomorrow tho!!! It will be on lol

Haha I know I know, had some things interrupt me yesterday so I didn't get to finish but it should be finished by the end of today lol

Here's a teaser

Looks good!

I notice it appears you put the weather stripping on the bottom of the bending bar and over the top? I would suggest you review that - having it on the top edge will make the front edge of the topper lift up, possibly catching the wind and unsnapping, and will probably let water in near the snaps ...

Here's mine, just for reference.

And how I wrap my straps in the back:

Yea these instructions they send aren't the most user friendly, I noticed it didn't look right after I done peeled and stuck it on there. I didn't know if they send two seals with it, one extra or your suppose to put one on each side of the front snap rail.

I think they sent two, because I only used one. Luckily after I removed it the first year I still had the second one to do it "right" (well, the James way haha) and should not need any more for a few years.

If I were you, I'd peel the top one off ...

Yea I'm goin to lol

the crappy part is, i work on cars and engines for a living then pull rookie statues tryin to put on a soft top lol. Not gonna lie I'm feeling pretty dumb right now looking at there estimated 90 minute install time lol

Hey now, don't get down on yourself. I've only owned over 100 cars and will do anything other than transmissions and I pull moves like that all the time. You are in good company IMO! :haha:

What is the noise like compared to the hard top? Any Floppiness of the canvas?
Thanks
-Bobby
It's not that much louder than with the top on, but obviously is louder. With the sides up it's just like having the top off. Frankly, the road noise through the truck is worse than either top, so I don't notice the difference.

No flopping of my top, up or down, even at highway speeds. And, in fact, on the highway it's very nice with the sides down.

Well I know it's been along time and I left some questions unanswered but life happens lol.

But I've been driving around with the soft top for the last couple months and I have to say its pretty fun. There is very little road noise and hardly any wind noise. I did notice however in a hard down pour it does leak where the top snaps to the frame on top of the roof. But I think that's expected on a soft top in hard rain, but nothing major.

So far the only thing wrong with the blazer is I noticed it had been hit in the front end before and left me with bent front shackles and I'm 90% sure my driver side spindle is bent causing some positive camber. Just need to fix a few minor things and it will be golden.
