Finally build thread worthy material

Oh, there'll be surplus 37x12.5R16.5 HMMWV tires coming for quite a while. After the MT's will be MT/R's and some BFG Baja's.

good to know...makes me feel better about ordering a newer rim for a spare, than the ones currently on my truck! I am going to keep an eye out locally for the next 2 weeks. but may end up biting the bullet and ordering a new one

if it would stop raining, I could get some truck work done. got a newly retubed DS just sitting there looking pretty.

Suck it up and het out there. I cracked my tcase adapter last night out in Georgetown and had to change it at 2am in the mud. Lost another white tshirt to my truck.

Well. I got the shaft back on and took it for a spin. Vibration wasn't as bad but the metal grinding noise is still there when I let off the gas at around 45 mph or higher. Lasts like 2 to 3 seconds then stops

I dont think its anything new....I just notice it more now that I am on the road. I can saw the wheel back and forth and not much happens...makes for some sketchy steering. I noticed it big time tonight.

you have xj shaft , new drag link , new wheel bearings , new ball joints , new tie rod and ends , and raised steering arm. only thing left is steering box or cracked frame.

Check to see if your box is tight against the frame. The bolts may have backed out, this happens to me a lot.

to my knowledge, I dont have a frame crack. I think steering box needs to either be rebuilt, or tightened up.

I pmed 4x4high and he is sending me some instructions on tightening my steering box...but I have to remove it to do it.

what kind of box do you have? i recently installed a 2wd drive box and have the same problem. one thing i found is that my bolts backed out a little, i tightened them up but still have the same thing.

i think my box came from a 2wd truck with a diesel, which means hydro boost, which might be part of the issue but im not sure.

As for the whining your hearing, good possibility its a pinion bearing or ring and pinion..... my Cummins did the same thing after some hard wheeling...

Its the driveshaft angle. Mine did that so I started pulling leaves until it went away. I still get it on occasion but only when the suspension unloads

Steering Box

Dieselndixie, I've got a 3 year old box laying around since I did my X-over steering. I'll sell it for half of what I paid! PM me if your interested

Well. Made some progress today thanks to cherryk5. Got a working seatbelt now! Also a bumper in waaaay better shape than mine was. Going to install a spare steerin box i got from Cherry as soon as my steering brace gets here. Good day!

Cherry drove it around and agrees that I might have a bent rim. Says my vibrations and grinding noises are my driveshaft. Says his used to do the exact same.

Just thought about it, but i may have some steel you can use to drop the tcase if you go that route
