Only thing that kinda surprised my is I only needed to clearence the block near the main bearing on one side. The rest of the block there was plenty of clearence.
Tomorrow I'll stick the a rod on and check to make sure those are all clearenced.
Has your block already been clearanced? If so looks clean.
Have you already assembled pistons to check clearance with cam?
Use using a 5.7 or 5.565 rod?
Sorry bout the questions

I know a stock 5.7 rod will hit the block and cam unless a small base circle cam is used. You need to be real careful not to hit a water jacket. Then take everything to a machine shop and have them cleaned good because metal chips get every where.Used 5.7 rods in my 406 and was just as much work as a 383 I did.
What he said. I'll be using the arp 383 rod bolts next time to see how much they need.clearanced next time
Are you turning the crank in the bearings dry?

Assembly lube I would hope![]()

Me too, but the scratching on the crank says no.![]()

I think your seeing things plenty of assembly lube is being used.
Looking at the pics I guess I could see how you might come to that conclusion. But I think what you seeing is the assembly lube.
