Been a while since an update. I had plans to get this on a dyno but those fell through when I started to have oil pressure issues. My oil pressure would drop when it hit 4k rpms. I ended up junking the stock oil pan and picked up a 7qt moroso pan with moroso pickup. That seemed to make all the difference in the world. I have rock solid oil pressure now all the way up to 5k rpms. The windage tray and trap doors inside the new pan seem to be doing there job!!!
I hooked up the boat this weekend just to see what things were going to be like. I went down highway 26 and then came up the hill I always had problems with. For those new to the thread the stock motor and 4.56 gears 35" tires the best I could do was 45mph in second gear. Stock motor and a change to 5.13 gears I could do 55mph in third gear with the throttle floored. Never could accelerate while going up hill. With the new motor I was able to do 80mph up the hill while accelerating with ease. Could easily do over 80 if I wanted to, I slowed down at 80.
I still need to do some tuning at idle. But my ALDL cable died. I have gone through 2 of these cables so far. I dont know if it's a quality issue of the cables or something odd going on with my truck. But the company that sells these cables has been completely helpful. They have a 30 day warranty and have replaced both cables outside the warranty period.
Also like to mention Brian at tbichips.com has been extremely helpful. You cant go wrong working with this guy. He has earned his tuning money and way beyond easily on this project!!!
