I was looking at Greg's photos over on NCBD and it looks like the inside of the gauge cups were painted in some of the pics. Did you paint the inside of your gauge cups?? If so, how did you go about doing it??

I bought that pin connector kit but I cannot remember who makes it? Just a basic 15pin connector...
My fuel gauge crapped out so I have to troubleshoot that ..other than that the guges work great.

I started my gauge project last weekend which I am following (copying) Greg72 and Burts. I did the mounting different as my gauges came with thick plastic mounting retainers. So I used the factory backing plates that screw to the back but cut holes in them. Not pretty but I think they will seal out duct better. Couple questions though:
1. The autometer twist-in lights are a little small for the other 8 factory lights. What did you do to keep them in there? Is there another size available or were you able to modify them.
I used the twist in Autometer lights(same ones in the Sport-Comp guages I used) and a dab of clear RTV to hold them in place.
2. The orange needles for the speedo and fuel mine are really faded. Can you buy replacements or are they easy to take off and paint them to match the autometers?
I ended up getting new guages from ChevyDuty. Never thought of painting them??
3. I thought I would reset the odometer since my motor, tranny, xcase are fresh. How do you reset it.
I tried to reset mine and well...I broke it! so again New one from ChevyDuty came set to 0000000. I too had a new engine so...
4. Where do you get the pin crimping tool at?
I use to fix copy machines so I had a crimping tool already. But radio shack hasum or anyplace that sells the pin connecters should have the tool also.
