Fire Extinguishers

I bought this fancy H3R Halguard one a long time ago. Was a bit paranoid after rerouting all the fuel lines:

Saw this show up in the storage lot up the street from my work. It makes me think that the wheel coming off caused the fire, which spread to the cabin.

Prime example of what we don't want to happen.

I watched a video from Rory where he stated that his bottle of tea put out a small fire better than an Element fire extinguisher. I don't know if he tested one himself, but I haven't tested one of mine either. Cuz I'm too cheap to waste the money, so I am relying on them to work as advertised.
:surepal:
So my Jimmy still has a regular extinguisher in it. Probably needs the powder shook up, though.

This seems a pretty good video of testing them:

Kind of surprising to see the two "normal" extinguishers fail (they knew one was bad, so...) but speaking for myself, something that doesn't have an expiration is probably a better option when I need it than something that expired five years ago lol. I think that may be the reality for most. You buy an extinguisher and forget about it, other than that you have one. Very little thought given to "I should replace it".

I'd hate to be helpless and watch my hard work burn.

For around $500 you can put a fire suppression system in.

It’s on my list, I should bump it up.

I’ve considered this in the past. Are you looking at a particular kit or just a racecar type kit from Summit etc? Do these kits have a detachable cylinder that can be recharged periodically?

You can mount the nozzles in the driver compartment and or the engine compartment. There is a charged bottle that is removable to be refilled. They usually have a cable operated valve, things go bad and you pull the handle and it sprays. Gotta have them for road racing.

I would like a 4 nozzle system minimum, 2 on the engine and 2 on the trans.
