Ok guys.....I need some major help on this one. As most of you know, I have turned very few wrenches in my life but....that is all about to change. So I guess you could say that I have my first big assignment. LOL! ! ! Anyway.... I told my hubby that I would get him a few things he needed for his Jimmy as a father's day gift. Well he gave me a list a mile long. The one thing he really wants or should I say needs is a dash pad. I know that a dash pad out of another year Jimmy can be used but I don't know which years will work on his. He's got an 89 Jimmy. Also other than making a post here for what I am looking for ....where might I begin looking for this dah pad? I'm sure I can look on the internet but I'm not sure what sites to use.I really do want to try to find this with out asking him for help. That is why I asked all of you. Most of you know more than I think I can ever learn. I will have him take a look at what ever I might find but the rest I want to do on my own.

Also it looks like the dash pad will work from a 81 all the way to 91.

Donna, I think the dashes are the same from '81 up to '91 (don't hold me to that) I was able to score a new dash pad from my chev dealer. It was the wrong color but I can have it painted. If you get one from a junk yard (way cheeper I would think) you may need to get it painted also, My dealer has a guy that comes around every week to fix interiors and trim panels, he can also paint them. Might be worth checking out.
Almost forgot

Wayne told me that it didn't matter on the color because he can paint it. He painted another one before. But thanks for the input. I really do appreciate it.

Check your local GMC dealer or chevy dealer. They told me $145.00 but it only comes in blue and you need to paint it..........

Become one with nature..............Then marinate it..

Mines blue too, go figure! If he's going to paint it, clean the snot out of it! Get all that ARMOR-ALL off. Paint does not like that stuff at all!. I'm sure Pureinsanity will back me up on that.

Don't go to JC Whitney. They'll probably send you a broken one that is the wrong color and will only fit a 1908-1924 Ford tricicle. I have never gotten anything worthwhile from them. They are the "BIG LOTS" (some of you know what I mean) of mail order stuff. Try LMC and see what they have.

My truck beat up your SUV

I got a new reproduction urethane one from Cheyenne Pickup Parts - great fit, looks better than a factory one. 405-872-3399 is their number to get a catalog. Pics of it on my site below. I would shy away from even attempting to use a used one - doubt they could come out in one easy piece without any damage.

Donna...check out www.paceparts.com also, they're right over here in NorthEast Ohio. How far is Gettysburg from...say like Sharon-Hermitage, PA? We got nice trails 20 minutes from there, just ask Emmettology 101.

I would skip the junkyard route for a dash pad. Most of the ones you'll find there are either cracked or are just about to crack.

If you want to send your old one to have it completely redone. Go to http://Justdashe.com. They aint cheap but it will come back better than new and you can have them put in custom materials, gauge pods, or speaker mountings. I really recomend these guys.

That link doesn't work, I think the "s" is missing in the site name. Try http://www.justdashes.com
