First Gen, all hardware no software

So I bought this '70 K5 and fell in the rabbit hole ever since. It was tired, a victim of someone's "perfume on a pig" restoration. Original 350/350.Paint is nice.
I would also get some good mileage through the system before manually tuning (aside form startup), which you might have already done. Some good stop and go, some stop and go. some cruising. All will help the system tune.

Where you heading with it on a 100+ mile trip? Somewhere fun I hope.
Ocean city Maryland fall cruise its usually a great turnout but I haven't been able to actually drive in yet

So I gotta dial back the moroso blueprint oil pump and set up a pcv system to get these rings to seat. Right now I'm pushing oil out of every seal including the mains. I have to say after theee of these felpro 1 piece gaskets I really don't think I like them.

What's the issue with the gasket? Supposed to be reusable so curious how you went through 3?
I don't like to reuse gaskets when it's so much work to change them and after the first two with another pan that I don't think had a good shape so now with the leaks I'm having I'd rather put a new gasket in

It's getting colder here so while I'm waiting on some intake gaskets and misc parts for sealing this engine better to deal with the oil psi I figured I'd button the softopper back on.
Seem my 285lb ass climbing around on it caused my effin passenger door that I just re-pined not to shut again!!!
Seems that I'm gonna be caging it this winter asap as I no longer run torsion boxes.:dunno::thinking:

My biggest regret is ever rebuilding this original 350ci and 350th. In hindsight an ls swap and nv4500 would not have me dealing with all this bullshit leaks. Pans been reseal 5 times (if you have a first Gen you know how much harder the cross member is to r&r. I'll never use a one piece oil pan gasket again. I still can't tell where the trans is leaking from after a new lokar dip stick and lube locker gasket. It may be the an hoses I made up...
Ever get so frustrated with a build you wanna burn it? :angry1:

are you using the original pan? You know how a little bend in those flanges can cause leaks. For the dipstick I like to use some RTV.

and if it makes you feel any better I helped a buddy do a LB7 duramax rear main seal the other night.
