You are not wrong... those pics kinda suck!
I painted over the powder coat after taking the plasti pip off that I painted over the powder coat the last time! :doah: They should be done properly or replaced with a nicer set. I’ll take better pics on the truck with the caps on.

Phone pics don't do things justice sometimes....usually look better in person!

Got the other caps done this morning.
Thing I learned no to do...

Don’t try to use the caps that have the plastic clips for the lug nuts. They won’t work.
Don’t trim 1 inch off the ring of the cap, it will leave a gap around the rim. The first cap I tried I cut at 1” it had a gap and then found that you need to trim the lug tabs and on the plastic cap there is noway to hold them on to the lugs so don’t even try. That one is trash.

Here is some things I found online about getting them to fit.

I used 3/4” tape to get my line on the cap and made sure I was 3/8s from the edge as shown on the pic above. More than 3/8s and the cap won’t clip on the the lugs. I used a Dremell with a cut off wheel.

To trim the metal retainers I used the dremell with a sanding wheel on three of them, took the last one to the shop and use a bench grinder, that was a better way.
I took off about half the flare. Not enough it won’t fit, to much and they don’t clip on.
The first on I took off to much and had to bend the tabs outward to make it work. Thankfully it does! I was more careful with the others

This picture is the of the plastic ones you don’t want to use.

Last three painted and done. Kind of a pain to make them fit but I think they look great!
Hopefully with these pictures someone else should have a more clear idea of how to make this all work.

Where does one find beauti-tone paint Dean? Jo Anne fabrics or hobby lobby? Lol. Looks like my wife's arts and crafts paint.

I stick to the paint that has generic pictures of tractors on the label.

I’ll try to get something more manly next time. :haha:
