I just thought it would be imteresting to see how many people can still fit their rigs in the garage? I am about to roll my in and redo the suspension and whatnot and am worried I may not be able to roll it out. :haha:

What are you guys running in a way of lift and tires if you are still in the clear.

(I have a seven foot threshold on the garage door.)

I have a large SUV that is stock and it is close to the top of my garage door so my guess is that anything over 2" is going to hit. I can't get my Blazer in my garage, well maybe the hood.

my old blazer with about 9" of lift and 40s fit just fine. new one with 4" of lift and 42s fits just fine. Shoot I had a newer tahoe with 12" of lift and 44s fit just fine. Oh yeah I have 10 ft doors :D

Big Ugly has 1" of front lift and 38's. Rear is stock. I have about 1-2" of clearance between the roof and the bottom of the top jam. 7' door.

Somewhere in the past I think it was Steve (Mr ColoradoK5 himself) had a picture of his lifted K5 on just stock GM 16" rims so that he could get it in and out of the garage.

7ft door = 1ton 9" total with 38" reguires stock rims and 205/55/16 car tires on them to squize in the door with 1" or so. and no motor in truck yet.

A 7" door is standard height. I have 5" lift and 35's and I have to go slow to keep from rubbing the hard top. With the rear bumper off it always rubs. I moved the top weather seal from the door frame to the door itself and that bought me an extra inch or so. It's almost a reason to live with saggy butt.

Oh yeah, if it's close, you might try forward and reverse, one might work better than the other. It depends on the slope of the driveway and other factors.

I have a 7 ft door. I have 6" suspension lift w/36's and I barely clear going in. In fact with my previous rental house it would only clear if I backed in.

goood

Well I think that just about settles it. Its going in for surgery, (without paying 100 a month for some shop space.) :D

I'm going to break down and buy the full membership and start posting on my build which will include my POS corbeau seats that are bent coming out. This site has contributed so much already. Maybe someone will get something out of my build.

Werd.

not a homeowner.... but by my logical thinking..... it would be a helluva lot cheaper to hit the local junkyard for some stock size spare wheels and tires, say 40-60 bucks total depending on where you go, than to remodel a garage to fit the larger truck.

its what i would do.

anyone here about the semi truck that got wedged into a tunnel entrance that was under construction. they tried everything to pull that sucker out without luck.... till someone had the clarity of thought to air down the tires on the semi rig, then backed it right out.

My '72 has about 4" of lift and 35" and I fit in a standard garage door. My top is off and between the windshield frame and cage (same height) I have about 3"-4" at the door but have a huge beam that runs parallel with the door and cleas the cage and windshield frame by about 2". Said beam is about in the middle of garage. I plan on going a bit bigger so since the beam in the garage is a 4"x14" (way overbuilt) I will end up sandwiching the top part of the beam with full length 2"x8"s on each side with glue and carriage bolts and then make a long sweeping arch type cut out of beam for more clearence. Hell, I'll even modify the front opening of the garage to make it a little taller so I can keep the blazer in the garage while my wife's $45k SUV sleeps outside.

Thats my thinking. LOL well I don't think i will have to modify the garage just yet since i am only doing the 4" with 35's (not planning on swapping axles yet), buuuuuuutttt if I get the budget i am going bigger so i can clear the 39's i guess some little rollers or beam cutting will be in order.

I've got a 4" spring lift + 3" body lift and 35s. My Blazer BARELY fits. I think I might not fit once I get new tires (same size I'm running now), my tread is pretty low now. I think I'll have to let some air out to get it in, but mine does barely fit now. Oh, and I've got a 6'11" clearing of my doorway.
And I'm very appreciative of it cause I just leave my top off and park it in the garage.
That top is just too damn heavy. Trying to get a soft top now.

Anyways enough of my rambling.
Old pic, but you get the idea...

I have to air down pretty good to get it in. Or I can swap on my small roller tires.

I have to air down completely to squeeze in. The top hoop of my soft top gently brushes the garage door weather strip. Driving flat boggers through a narrow garage door is a whole lot of fun.

Once I finish my 1 ton swap, I'm getting some tiny rollers.

I have 4" of lift and 38" swampers. I have to let pretty much all of the air out of my tires to get in. Actually I can't fit it in the garage now anyway, but that isn't a height issue.

We have 2 12x12 doors now, have had to change tires to get the rigs in the garage in the past wasn't going through that again.
